Just watched a show about the Bugatti Veyron. At 1.7 million a copy, I'm surprised I have actually seen one in the flesh. I was amazed to learn that the hand built Michelin tires only last about 6,000 miles. I was even more amazed to learn that the replacements cost $17,000 a set ( and that was last years price ).

I suppose if you can afford the ride, the tire cost is irrelevant.

Not sure if it was this car or not...I seem to remember it was an Aston-Martin...but either way, the car is capable of something like 260mph and at that speed would burn through a tank of gas in about 13 minutes.  This was actually a good thing because the article said that at that speed, the tires would burst into flames from the heat in about 15 minutes.  Cheesy uglystupid2

It wasn't the Aston, it was the Bugatti. The car is capable of 260 mph plus but is computer controlled to a maximum of 253 mph. The tires on the car have been tested to over 270 mph but the engineers believe the car could become too unstable much above 250 mph. The info I got from the broadcast was that there will only be 300 ever built so I suppose that was the reason for the above story of the car nearing the end of production. Another interesting fact about the company, the Bugatti had not been manufactured since the middle of the last century but Volkswagon bought the rights to the company and is responsible for bringing the Veyron into being.

I watched a show on TV a few years back about that car...the factory where it was made was AMAZING! cooldude
Also, an oil change was something like $6K if I remember correctly.  uglystupid2
