I too have a 96 GW... Aspy in my case.  I would have to suspect that without modifications they wouldn't fit.  So that poses the question: If you are going to waste time resources and effort in such modifications, why not go for an upgrade.  Something snazzy and powerful...

Now as for those stock GW pipes... do you have pics?  PM me!

I have Jardines (came with the bike) and they have a good balance of grumble vs. stealth.  I live in an urban setting and have neighbors that I like to stay on good terms with. They watch my place while I'm en cavalcade!

If you wanna swap... I might be interested.

I have a gallery of the monster here: http://culleynet.com/zen/1998-valkyrie-tourer/

Send pics, if nothing else, I might be able to help you sell them online... email: tmcculley (at) grandecom.net

this is preacher in st hedwig. (210) 262 8471. I have been looking for some 6 into 6 pipes for my 2000 tourer. i have a couple of sets of pipes both standard and some just a tad louder, but nothing like the 6 into 6. if you would like to trade I would be very pleased
