I've ridden with numerous people here on the little roads above 64 in North Carolina north
of Highlands and Cashiers... One of the good roads I know about up there, Tilley Creek (changes to
Ellijay Road after a while) seems to always get left out or not gotten to... this morning I left
out to meet up with Henry on his new ST1100 to ride back up to Tilley Creek Road...

Henry and I headed out towards Walhalla on Highway 11... we got to a stop sign, and I asked
Henry if he thought the crossroad would go to Walhalla, and he though it probably would... I
suggested a few other likely directions at intersections and pretty soon we were hopelessly
lost 15 miles from my house, I'm glad that can still happen

I guess it took an
hour and a half just to make it north of 11...

We got up to where 281 hits 64 and ran into the guys riding these things - they professed
to be having way too much fun - they'd just gotten back from the general area
we were headed to...

Highway 64 as it runs through here could be such a good road if it didn't have
traffic like Atlanta...

We used it the bare minimum...

281 is an awesome road, it wasn't paved all the way through when I first
got my Valkyrie, but it is paved all the way now...

We didn't take any of 281's great side roads, we kept going all the way to the
end and on up 107 towards Tilley Creek Road...
Here's a picture I stared at a while while I was going through the pile...
all blurry and gnarly... a motorcycle ride moment...

We got on up to Tilley Creek, it is as good a road as I remembered, it swoops
through an agricultural valley without going straight for very long anywhere...

We came down out of there, then hit Walnut Creek and Norton Road,
and into Cashiers, famished...

We walked around looking at all the crowded touristy places there at the
intersection of 64 and 107... finally ate at a place where my side order
involved
cous cous and my chicken sandwich came on
a croissant with grapes and Henry's hamburger was made out of
black beans...

I mean, it was good and all, but... where do
people eat in Cashiers? It is too much of a tourist quagmire to want to
wander around very far looking...
I always forget to turn my camera off when we stop somewhere... I have
150 of these
