Far from home and sure as shooting. FIRST the fork seal went. The. A fuel leak. No dealers near and a seeker.d.. just getting it looked at. Arrrggghhh

Don't sweat the fork seal...that's just messy. You can run a LONG time before a problem.

Tell us about the fuel leak. If it is the petcock, and you just want to keep going, people
here can tell you how to do a safe mod to the petcock (JB weld and/or flipping something
around on the inside, I don't remember details) that will get you back on the road...

If it is the petcock you can remove all the guts (spring and diapham) and block off the vac and vent side by placing a thick piece of gasket material between the two metal pieces and make the valve a manual petcock. I did mine about three years ago so we could make a ride and it's still that way.

Sorry for the rambling post.  My smartphone isn't.

Currently in Moncton, NB. Was in Nova Scotia, planned to ride the Cabott Trail. No dice...no dealers.

Toys For Big Boys took me in (Honda/HD dealer). They put new fork seals in (both), new fluid, cleaned my brake. But, they are sure it's the petcock that's leaking - and they say, "we don't carry such parts".

I've turned around and am heading back home; likely through USA. Maine, NH, VT, upstate NY. Might get lucky along the way. If not, once home, I'll do some research on this. I've seen 'Pingle' mentioned as a good replacement over the OEM petcock.

I'm riding with a wet rag tucked under the drip. It drips....a drip every 3-4 seconds. Last night my fuel indicator didn't even notice a difference. If it stays a drip I should be OK.
I'll catch up with the board once home. Just got a lucky break here at a hotel - internet.

Howdy from Malone NY!

Anyway folks - I'm stumped. Last night parking at a hotel in Bangor, ME, I pulled my 'petcock mod' (the rag) and....no leak. WTF? Tonight, 24 hours and hundreds of miles since Bangor, still no leak.

The only thing I was doing different this trip, was synchronized filling with others, on a sched, so I was filling right into the neck. Would that have caused some sort of reverse vacuum or something?
Or did the petcock fix itself after a major bump in the road?

Makes no sense, but my fuel leak is gone. For now. ???

Filling up to the neck could make it weep a little fuel, but out the vent and not at the petcock. Where is the vent on this tank? Near the gas cap? I haven't had mine off in a while. Not that that's a bad thing.
