Out riding today my mind started to wander and got to thinking about my ride and how much I enjoy the darn thing. Was looking at the chrome pieces I can see in front of me like risers, levers, clock, etc. and thought "can a person have TOO much chrome" or is it better to go with the saying that "less is more" .... it's kinda like a lady with too much makeup.

Whats your opinion ??

I seldom add any chrome in front of me that the sun can bounce off and blind me while riding. Doing so just seems silly to me.

I am of the opinion in this case that less is more.

The engine really stands out when it is cleanly defined, that is without a lot of chrome added around it and obscuring the lines of the block.

I think they original designers did a great job with the bike with all the right chrome in all the right places. I actually think adding chrome can take away from the balanced look that really makes the engine stand out as a chrome centerpiece.

When i were a LOT younger we used to say iffin it don't go-chrome it. Our scoots do go. That being said-i likes extry chrome. I'm not headed to the poor house over chrome-but i could be. RIDE SAFE.

Some bling I like & some I don't.
Not crazy about trans covers, I think they are too much & cover up an area of the Valk that doesn't need it. Honda put some nice looking chrome bolts there for accent. Rick {Flask} has an I/S with the engine block painted semi-gloss black & it looks fantastic! As long as the paint on the block is in good condition it would be a shame to cover it up with anything.
I do like the engine hanger covers as that is an ugly area on the Valk plus it helps hide the unsightly hoses that can be easily seen otherwise. Chrome dipstick & fill plug looks just right as well.
Not fond of the spark plug covers either. I like to see some of "goings on" of a bike's mechanical side. John Schmidt has added colored plug wires to his Valk with a great looking result.
Covers placed over ugly bolt heads are OK in moderation as is a nice chrome plate on the back of the passenger backrest. cooldude

Almost forgot...... the lower hose cover!!! One of my favorites. I have seen lots of time, effort & $$$ spent on blinging out a Valk & it still has the nasty looking stretched out black "slinky" around the hose. Embarrassed

It doesn't always have to be chrome to help bling out a Valk!

I just added a set of used Baker Wings to the Valk and had a friend make a set of stainless Wings to replace the plexiglass ones.  Let me know how they look at Inzane!

My opinion (since you asked)  Yes, there can be too much chrome, however I havent really seen a valk with too much (except for ones that had the tins chromed too)....I think that is over the top especially the tank. 

A far as "jewelrey" as you said.  If its so much that you cant, wont, or dont keep it shiney, then its too much.  If you keep the "jewels" shined up and you like it, its not too much

Yeah I think the original amount of chrome is just about right. You can't really see little chrome doo-dads zipping by you at whatever illegal speed anyway so unless the bike is sitting still then no one's gonna see it anyway. Some of the chrome aftermarket bits I see I like (solo rack) and others (side covers) not so much.

Another agreement with Mike - I only have a couple things I've added, purely for the sake of adding chrome, because I like the way it looks. That would be the fender tips, front and rear. Pretty much every other piece is functional. I had a nice set of Cobra engine hanger covers (right term?), that Big Mike from Bling said were fairly rare, and hard to find. I traded him for a set of Cobra Light Bars, because I like having more light, more than I like having more chrome. I think we both benefited from that deal.
And I do have the racks for the top of the rear fender, and saddlebags, which I might never use, but DO like the looks of. I'm really hoping to find a 2nd saddlebag one, to match the fender one, since mine don't match now.
I also still have trouble with the tranny covers - the Goldwing 1200's, had trouble with the stators going out, and was a labor-intensive repair - had to pull the motor, to swap it out, plus it was expensive. So, we made sure we didn't have the metal side covers on, we called them "stator cookers". Just can't get away from that.
