This was posted by Bama Red in another thread, but I was thinking it kinda deserved it's own thread...

If you wish to have all posts by any particular user or users ignored, here are the steps:

Click on Profile up near the top, then on the left under "Modify Profile" click "Personal Message Options"

On that screen there is the option for an "Ingorelist".

Enter the username(s) of any users you wish to ignore here, one name per line, then click the "Change Profile" button at the bottom of that screen, and voila, any posts from those users will be replaced with:

Quote
You are ignoring this user. Show me the post.

If you click the "Show me the post." it will go ahead and show you the post anyway if you really wanna see it, but by default that user's posts will now be hidden from you.

(I haven't tested, but I believe if someone quotes the ignored person's post, you'll still see it.)

Not gonna argue if ignoring someone or someones is the right thing to do, just making sure those who wish to avail themselves of this feature know how to do so.

As long as you dont lose arguments with yourself,,,,,,,,,,,, NOT INSANE.
Not influenced by other opinions and no room to grow. I dont always agree with some here but I read their posts and value the opinions spewed herein. I'll agree there are times I gloss over ones when the subject matter isnt poignant, but, I value the input.
Heck, sometimes I'M the idiot.

cooldude Most excellent! Now I've put everyone else on ignore and only read my own posts. Being a Gemini, I still get a couple of different points of view on issues. This way I'm happy, in a petulant, pouty sort of way (though it's hard to type with arms crossed while glaring at the screen).

I actually added a MOD to make this work as it does now.  Originally, it only worked for PM's, but I made the changes to make it for posts also.

Hmm, I suppose I forgot to post about that....thanks for making a thread about it Serk.

Bumping this back to the top due to some recent PMS issues someone seems to be having lately, this might be useful information to have again...

Bumping back up to the top, it's been a while and some people might not know this feature is available or how to avail themselves of it.

You don't need a forum app to ignore some user(s).

All you need is a little self discipline.

Take a deep breath, then click the mouse (moving on).  And voila.    Smiley

Tried it...but I still see your posts  Wink Wink Wink

In all seriousness, it's pretty easy to just not open certain posts in the first place....they or the poster are pretty obvious. I could care less that certain members choose to engage in the "pleasantries" you describe above...whatever floats their boat. Still lots of decent discussions on here to keep me interested in hanging around cooldude
