I just love it when ANY dog owner says "MY DOG WOULD NEVER BITE ANYBODY."      Bullpoop.   any dong can have a bad day......a tooth ache......a headache.......and if you think pitbulls aint any more likely to attack a human than any other dog then why when about once a week you hear in the news about a dog attack it is nearly ALWAYS a pitbull.

It's always a PITTBULL for the same reason people look at the Valk and say "Nice Harley ! " ! tickedoff

Like Joe stated,,, if it were your kid that got bit,  i bet you would change your minds,,,
we have 2 dogs, a chihuahua and a silky,,thats a fat yorkie from austrailia and if either one was to bite a kid the dog would be put down,,but if one was to bite a kid the wound would not be as nearly bad as what a big dog can do,,,

I would generally agree. Any god can bite.

But I've currently got a mutt that was abused pretty badly. He's got major issues. After 5 years in my household he's still terrified of me. My guess is that a bald man with a beard must have really mistreated him.

And yet, he's never snapped at me. My kids (especially my youngest) have abused him the way kids will abuse animals when they don't understand that what they do can hurt them and he's never so much as looked at them sideways. He's taken it all in stride. He's as well behaved around children as any dog I've ever met despite his mental issues. I would never say never to anything, but I'd come pretty close with patches.

93.4 % of all statistics are made up on the spot.  And coincidentally 93.4% of biting dogs were not pitbulls until someone got bit. after the attack 97.6 became pitbulls and 3.4% were unruly children that bit the nanny and blamed it on Spot, the dog who instantly turned into a pitbull.

a very bias blog. lots of half-truths, half-lies and deception.
right off the bat the blog states that it includes many different types of dogs, such as including the American Bulldog, a completely different breed. All bull dogs are know to be very chil friendly, same reason pure breed pitbulls are due to the bull dog in them. And to say that a pit bull is the only dog that bites and shakes its head is a 100% lie!! that is the instinct of all dogs. anybody who knows dogs and has study dogs knows this to be true.

Why was the pure bred Amercian Pitbull Terrier the perferred family dog in the early 1900s if it is so dangerous to children? It was the dog of choice to be the family dog. There are many people out there that should nver have a dog let alone a pit bull just like many people should never have a gun.

something interesting to resesarch is the push in europe for the last 10yrs to band all working breed dogs, these are the type that provide the most protection to a home. the pit is in the working breed of dogs.
Is this another level of taking away peoples rights to protect themselves like they want to take away guns?
Even in this country, if the police raid a home the first thing they do is shoot the dog, doesn't matter what type of dog it is, they have standing orders to shoot it. don't believe me, research the news articles on the subject.
these are simliar tactics used in the communist block countries.

This happened 8-12-11....

A pregnant northern California woman was mauled to death by her pet pit bull, which was later shot and killed, reports say.

..The body of Darla Napora, 32, was found at her home in Pacifica, said police Captain Dave Bertini, according to NBC Bay Area affiliate KNTV.

The victim's husband found his wife around noon, with one of the family's pit bulls standing over her body, KNTV said. He was able to get the dog into the backyard before police arrived, but the animal escaped, charging the officers later.

Police fired three shots, killing the dog. The family's second pit bull, which was not believed to be involved in the incident, was removed and taken to the Peninsula Humane Society as a precaution, KNTV said.

A neighbor told the San Francisco Chronicle that she saw Napora’s distraught husband outside the house before authorities arrived on the scene.

"He was in the driveway all frantic, yelling," Kathy Carlson told the newspaper. "He had blood on his hands, blood on his shirt and blood down his pants."

A sign reading "Beware of the Dog" hung from a fence that wraps around the home, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

She lived her own life'
Darold Larson of Yakima, Wash., told the Mercury News that his daughter was athletic and had a great sense of humor. She and her husband Greg had been married for two years.

"She lived her own life, no matter what anyone else said," he told the Mercury News. "She was an individual."

Local residents said they had not sensed any previous problem with the animals.

"They are not barking dogs. They seemed friendly," Carlson told the Chronicle of the two dogs owned by the Naporas. "I have a pit also, and he's an absolute angel. It's just really sad."

The Mercury News said Napora worked as a saleswoman for a local wine brokerage. The owner of the brokerage, Shannon Burke, told the paper that Darla Napora was at least six months along in her pregnancy.

"It's a big loss," the Mercury News quoted Burke as saying. "She was very much loved."

Investigators will perform a necropsy on the dog to determine whether it was sick in any way, the paper said.

When the pit bull was banned in Norway in 1991, there were 17 such dogs in Norway. Now it's more than 1000 banned pit bull-dogs in Norway.

I just think of that little boy with no ears.

I guess he can live normal life.

But why do people think so arrogantly,,,,,,, about what they keep as pets.

I mean really could not a person be happy with a Golden Retriever or a Cocker Spanial.

Bravado is my guess and denial.

Not to belabor the point because I agree with you, but there's been a recent sharp rise in unprovoked bites by Goldens that I believe has something to do with the rampant inbreeding of the breed.

Though they don't typically maul and kill like Pits. It's more your classic "ill tempered dog" scenario.

A lot of the trouble comes from inbreeding. When a dog breed gets popular the pupply mills will breed family members to get the right look or color. I have an Aussie now he is a high energy dog. Lets out a deep bark when people show up. But thats about it. In fact i tell everyone that he will show you where the good stuff is and help you load it. Growing up we always had a mut and they were happly and knew there place. Dogs were bread by man for certian tasks. Hunting dogs are going to hunt hearding dogs are going to run the livestock its in them can't get it out. Fighting dogs are going to do what ?????????????
