Last year pulled my forks and had the dealer replace the seals. Going to Inzane right side started leaking, pulled it apart this morning, and this is what I found. Looks like they drove the seal in with a screw driver, surprised it lasted as long as it did. Seeing the damage, going to rebuild both sides. Really stinks to pay for work and get this, I am going to see the service manager tomorrow, and explain to him what I think of their work, may even teach him some new words.

Pulled the left side apart, and it is worse, frikin unbelievable.

(Sorry, couldn't resist... Good luck with the dealer, who knows, maybe they'll try to make things right...)

That's pretty incredible!

Examine your sliders VERY closely and make sure they didn't damage them with the screwdriver as well.

and: Is that the spring side of the seal? Sorta looks like they may have had it in there backwards too?

The seal was in the right direction. No damage to the slider or the housing. The seal has a spring on both sides, I guess the outer is a wiper to keep dirt out of the oil side. Also found the upper spring seat washer was cocked to one side, not seated in the notch. I think I could have had a kid down the street do a better job.

Well it was a dealer so that's probably who did it.

I will try, probably in the truck. Going to be a while before I get the parts for the Valk. May drag the cm450 out and ride it there. I sat down last night and made a seal driver, like the one from Honda, but used brass so not to worry about scratching the fork slides.

Well I guess I can post the dealer now, Extreme Power Sports on US 301, Brandon,Fl

Took the seals in this morning, manager had 50 ,excuses. Seals rotten, Seal driver makes the notches driving the seals in, did not think they were Honda seals, and they supplied them, etc etc. I still had the receipt for the work. No apology or offer of a refund. So basically I told him, he did not know the difference from his ass and a hole in the ground . Even showed him a picture of the proper Honda Seal driver. Actually it was a lot worse, will not say it here NSFW. Good part, several folks were in to get service work done, after listening to my altercation with the manager, got on their bikes and left.  I will never recommend this place to any one, and suggest another dealer that does good work. I just used this one originally as it was close to where I live.  tickedoff

forward those pictures and the explanation (a scanned copy of your service receipt would make a great attachment) to Honda corporate....as many email addresses as you can find...doesn't have to be the service people.  Eventually someone higher up will see it.  Make sure to CC the offending Honda dealer too... Roll Eyes

May only get you personal satisfaction, but that's priceless.

O-k i'll play devils advocate here. Evil How much did they rip-screw-cheat-flim flam and just generally get into your wallet for?? Sad part of this is-i was pullin for ya and hopeing they would do the RIGHT thing. The fact that i'm not surprised-angry-pissed off-wanting to do a number on the service manager comes to mind-but not the least bit surprised. Says a lot about the world we be livin in now. No body wants to take responsibilty. Sad-not unexpected-but sad. RIDE SAFE.

I pulled the forks and took them in, $175 to replace seals and bushings. They screwed the seals, and the bushings don't look like they were changed. Not that the money will kill me, just hate getting ripped off by a supposed to be reputable dealer. I will never go back, and before it is over others will get an ear full also.

I hate to say I told ya so.^^^^ All kidding aside, The e-mail suggestion from jrhorton is a good one.  I might have suggested the same.  I'm the Business Manager at a Jeep Dealership.
If you were talking with the Service Manager... Go talk to the GM and ask for the owner's name and contact info.  Go in with some of the pics you took and the parts...not just the parts.
Tell the GM about the conversation with his Service Mgr. and that you want some serious satisfaction or you will make life very miserable for them.  Ask him how their CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) is w/ American Honda right now.  It effects how they are evaluated from Honda. (Assuming Extreme Power Sports is a Honda Dealer)

Write up a letter explaining the screw-up and show it to him... Tell him just a couple of places it is going if you don't get some satisfaction here.

Letter to the editor of the local paper, (free to you),
Complaint to BBB, (free),
You'll put in a Claim/Complaint to the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General Office, (free)
If someone Googles their name, they'll see your "Buyer Beware" alert first. (Hey... even bluffing can work)

Bottom line is...no Dealership wants to see their bottom line go down... You have definitely been wronged here and it sucks...  tickedoff   If they have any brains at all between them, they'll do something for you.
Tell them you want your money back, and you want it now...

Good luck.  cooldude

I sent you a PM a min. ago Grumpy about another issue...

I had a run in with Brandon Honda a few months ago.  HORRIBLE.  Ended with the sheriff getting involved because they came to my house and staked me out for an hour for a piece of paper they left in my odyssey.  Anyways I called corporate Honda and the owner of Brandon Honda.  I got a lot further with corporate than i did with the dealer.  If you can't find the number I'll do some searching for it.  I got it somewhere's I think.  My dad was good friends with the owner of a honda dealership up in GA.  I'll give him a call and see if he can provide me any insight on the best way to get it taken care of.  I'm sure he knows somebody in corporate...

I had a flat (nail in tire) on a Saturday a few years ago while in Florida. Had big plans to ride with the Fla. crew over to Daytone. Long story short; I calleod a bunch of Dealers and the ONLY one who would take my bike in and promised to get right on it was the Dealer just outside (north) of Ocala. I liked the service manager. He took care of us. I went back a last year and see they had moved to a brand new building right next door to their old one. It was a whole different vide and far less friendly (IMO.)  So I don't know if it's still a good shop or not?
