People who call a Valkyrie Standard with Leather or hard bags a Tourer.

What should we call a standard with bags a shield and electronic cruise control?

I would call that just beautiful!

Not being a smart ass, I would just really like to know. I did shave the tourer emblems off the bags and the shield.

What does the term "Bagger" mean to you guys? I always think of a Harley with a shield and bags. I have refered to my bike in casual conversation as a bagger thinking that people would understand the concept and understand that it's not a "dresser" (Interstate). I suppose bagger could be too generic as it does not detail hardbags vs soft or windshield vs fairing. Is bagger and dresser reserved for just the HD crowd?

To me any bike with bags is a bagger.....without bags it's not a bagger.

I could care less what they call it as long as they don't call too late to eat.

This is kind of funny, because I read this thread yesterday before RJ's post (quoted), then in the meantime was reminded of one of my pet peeves.  It's not really a "peeve" that upsets me, but a common thing that I make note of when I hear it.  It's like the use of the non-word "irregardless", which, when interpreted literally, conveys a message opposite to what the speaker intends.  The speaker says, "I could care less," when what they mean is "I couldn't care less," or "I care so little that I couldn't possibly care less."  So when someone says, "I could care less," what they are, in effect, saying is, "I must care at least a little bit, because I could care less."

I'm not picking on RJ, but his message in this thread hit an ironic note for me as I contemplated it while my Valky sits outside.  There, now it's... never mind.  coolsmiley

It bugs me when the Valkyrie is called a "Fat Lady" or "Dragon". "Valky" has already been mentioned. "Valk" is ok, but those others = screech on the blackboard.

Fat Lady doesn't bug me. It's a riff on Fat Boy which I find slightly humorous.

Dragon I don't get at all. As I said before; it already has one official Dungeons and Dragons name, it doesn't need another.

I've found that if I watch my caffeine intake and don't forget to take my 40 mg of Citalopram Hydrobromide tabs in the evening, I'm good to go.

Is that the pharmaceutical generic name for a roofie???

So, those tabs give you drowsiness, insomnia, nausea, weight changes, frequent urination, decreased sex drive, anorgasmia, dry mouth, increased sweating, trembling, diarrhea, excessive yawning, and fatigue, bruxism, vomiting, cardiac arrhythmia, blood pressure changes, dilated pupils, anxiety, mood swings, headache, and dizziness, convulsions, hallucinations, and severe allergic reactions.
However, none of that will leave you depressed.

What was wrong with "break ins".  Was that not sexy enough?  When the local news says there was a home invasion, I picture black helicopters and big burly guys sliding down ropes and smashing through the windows.  THATs a home invasion.

As I understand it a "home invasion" occurs when the domicile is occupied. Break-ins occur when the home is empty.

Was the Brady Foundation started in 1973?  According to the Oxford English Dictionary, "Home Invasion" dates back to 1973.  I'm certainly no fan of Sarah Brady, or the Brady Foundation, but how did you link these two?   ???   Apparently "Home Invasion" was defined by some states as a personal crime to separate it from the  property crime of "Break-in".  It is commonly tied to the "Castle Doctrine" laws.  Do you also disagree with these laws?

I ALMOST took the time to look that up...then I thought about it and decided if I made id inflammatory You would do it for me.

While I do agree with Castle doctrine type legislation, I DO NOT feel that punishment for property crimes should be less than crimes against ones person. Hanging in a public square for either crime. possibly just cut off a limb for lower severity crimes like petty theft or simple battery, but there should be NO plea bargaining to lower the severity level either way.

I'm not really in favor of turning this country into Saudi Arabia. We should be better than that and you can't extend the rights of an individual to their property. Taking a baseball bat to someone's car is not the same thing as taking a bat to their head and should not necessarily be treated the same way. Talk about slippery slopes.

I think it should be enough of a deterrent that you can positively kill the crap out of anyone you find in your home uninvited.

I don't view it as softening of the language that George Carlin talks about (although that bugs me too), but rather the sensationalizing of the language by the media.   What was wrong with tidal waves?  That term worked fine for several years.  Did we really need tsunamis?  I can see adopting a word from another culture if we didn't already have a word that adequately described something - the language if full of such words.  But I was good with tidal wave.

Because "tidal wave" really isn't very accurate. They have nothing to do with tides.

I mean I know what you're saying but once in a while these things are thought out.

Language is ever evolving.

You know, I was in Spain in June on business and I was walking through a hangar there and I saw a sign that said "Prohibido Fumar" and I was thinking wow, just like in English.

Think I'll go have a few cervezas and watch those tontos on the news.  Maybe they'll show a tsunami or a haboob.

Things that bug me....That is an extremely mild descriptor so I will go with something that mildly P!!553ES me off!  I want a cell phone that will make phone calls (with out fail an no dropped calls) but instead I am forced to move into the new age and own a phone that I can check the twitter and look at internet porn. I am getting used to lookin at my spacebook/facepage thing and the porn takes a long time to down load but when I saw a bumpersticker asking how I liked the drivers ability to maintain both lanes at the same time after cutting in where a smart car wouldnt fit...I decided to call the number listed (1-800-EATSH!+). I looked down at my new 'dingleberry'phone and saw that the key pad was like a keyboard/typewriter and NOTHING like the old phone pads. I did not exactly grow up on rotary dial phones or even the ones that you had to tap 3 times for the operator, But how the hell am I supposed to tell some one how their driver is doing when I have to stop and remember that abc begins on #2 and 7 has 4 letters (pqrs) 8 has only 3 (tuv) and again 4 letters on #9 (wxyz).  tickedoff

I did not even remember the color of the car after all that, let alone the license plate and when I finally reached 1-800 EATSH!+ some one answered with an east indian accent and said "MELP YOU ?" ! Shocked

That is just 1 of the things that bug me !  uglystupid2

People who talk about a website and don't post the link.

Or people who only post a link but don't describe what they are linking to.  I don't follow those links unless the responses give some clues that intrigue me.
