I'm about to start installing my Woody's fairing.  I've already got a Sony stereo for it......a DSX-S100.  This one.....

http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666086157

I'd like to mount somekind of a handlebar mounted controller to operate the stereo and control the volume.  The Sony comes with a seperate little remote control for it....and I suppose I could figure out some way to strap it on the handlebars to control the stereo, but I'd perfer something like a handlebar mounted stereo controller/volume controller that I could operate instead.  Something more like what comes on an Interstate or a Goldwing kind of thing.

It wouldn't neccessarily need to control the stereo's operations, just to be able to control the stereo's volume from the handlebars would be nice.

I did some internet searches but didn't find anything at all.  Does anyone make an aftermarket controller that I can mount on the handlebars to operate/control my Sony in my Woody?

When I had a set of speakers on my GL1100 I got a volume controller from Rakio Shack. Just a little wheel volume control that I zip tied on the handlebars.

Contact a good radio repair shop.    We have one here in town that was started in 1955, and he comes up with some of the damnest concoctions, actually they look pretty good, and some of them have been remote control that could be mounted on the bars.

My SONY that we stuck in MGM way back when, he rigged up a rotary switch type volume control on one side and a station changer on the other side.  If I wanted FM, FM1 or any other channel, I had to manually reach up to the radio and change it.

Also if I wanted to do a scan, it had to be done at the radio.

Worked good until one day the velcro came loose and it took a pretty good smack on the windshield.   Pieces flew every direction.    Just cut the wires and now I only have the station changer.

I have powered speakers on my standard hooked up to an MP3 player. I mounted a toggle switch to the left handlebar near the grip. I ran the speaker power through the toggle, I can quickly turn off the speakers without looking away. Doesn't adjust volume, but works well to turn speakers on or off.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Bought one this sping. LOVE IT! I almost bought on from Cycle Sounds as it was $50 on clearance.  Shocked Yahoo searched for it and found the exact one for $8. Like they said, Radio Shack has some to. The one I got I mounted it to the bottom bolt of the left clamp, right under the turn sig switch.

Biketronics http://www.biketronics.com/categories/Complete-Audio-Packages/?gclid=CNC6raTw76oCFWJ-5QodJTxLQg used to make some add-on switches to mount under the existing switch housings on some bike. They had an adapter box to emulate the steering wheel control inputs to Sony radios. Originally the system was aimed at folks to wanted to replace a dead H-D radio or put one in a Std. FLH that didn't come with one. You could check with them for ideas. I just made a bracket to mount the radio's infrared remote up above the turnsignal switch housing on my bike. As long as it points at the front of the radio it even works through the closed door.

I attached the sony remote to my Mustang tank bib with velcro. Easy to take off and put in bag and easy access. Works for me with my Woody's fairing.

Electric Avenues Amplirider.  I Installed one on the wing and the Valk.  Gives you a dial volume control. It's also a pre-amp and a mixer for 3 input sources, and not too expensive.  Their web site is http://www.electric-avenues.com/amplirider.html  I wrote up my install and use of their product at http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Jammin_with_Blaupunkt/jammin_with_blaupunkt.html  Here's their pic from their website:
