My pain is with me all the time, but some days are better than others.
I've had bones heal, but they did not knit together properly.
And my wife doesn't dig the big ol scar on my back.
But I'm still rideing.

Not to thread hijack jabba, but I see Rupert may through his hat into the ring for Ind Gov. I was going this route and if Rupert really does run, then he's getting my vote.

I was gonna say something to the effect of "tell pain is temporary to a guy with two bulging discs and two grenaded discs" but Momz kinda beat me to it.

I'll call your two bulging discs, and two grenaded discs, and raise you 3 grenaded discs in the neck, 3 other discs bulging in the neck, a herniated L4, and congenital stenosis!  Sad

The pain is there for sure, but it's better than my buddies who have died from cancer!

OK, let me clarify my pain/scar/surgery.
I needed spinal chord surgery, not a blown out set of discs.

I've have a genetic spinal chord disease that caused me to lose muscular fuctions of my exremities and caused paralysis of my legs and left arm. Two surgeries later and the will to continue to try to live a normal lifestyle, and I'm still here.

Six weeks after my first surgery I participated in the "Valhalla Voyage" at the Ont. CDN/ MI USA handoff. That was the first time that year that I rode my I/S.

In 2010, shortly after Daytona Bike Week, I suddenly became paralysised on my left side. I was told that I need immediate surgery. I lost several bones in the process, so my back is held together with titanium rods, pins and screws. And I feel them every time I hit a bump in the pavement.

I don't ride as much as I used to but last year I put in excess of 5K from Aug. 15th to Nov. 3rd. I will continue to ride as long as my own will and the Lord allows me too. After all this year is my 40th year on two wheels.
