How do I go about replacing the light bulb in my Tach? Went out last week, and it drives me nuts as I ride in the dark quite a bit. Thanks for your responses.

If its a standard or tourer you have to remove the tach and unscrew the screw holding the case on, remove the case and change the bulb.  I got one that was a tad brighter at radio shack for a few cents, it was really cheap.  That was 5 or 6 years ago now so I dont remember the watts but take the old one with you and it will be pretty easy to choose

Thanks, it is a 98 Tourer. I will take it apart tonight and hit up a Radio Shack.

I got the white 5 bulb # WLED-X5 from superbrightleds.com

I went from a dull green in the tach/speedo to a bright cool blue!

I likey!   cooldude

However, I was looking at that web site and it states that they come in "Cool White", "Natural White" and "Warm White".

Which "white" did you buy?

do the LEDs solve the "transition time" problem at dusk?

Transition Time- That time between daylight and night where the daylight is not adequate to illuminate the gauges, and the lamps are not bright enough to see S**T! Cheesy

I ordered the LED lights yesterday. After looking at the pictures, I couldn't resist. They were about $9.00 for two delivered.

Maybe I can see my gauges in the dark now!

Yes to some extent. The transition time is half as long as these are brighter. I really like them.

I think you will like them also.  cooldude
