Hey John, I bet that for just that instant, his bike was really fast though!

Seriously, glad he survived!

Reminds me of an incident one bike night a couple yrs. back. We live close enough to a six lane major highway to hear the idiots screaming away from the Steak 'n Shake where they gather about a mile up that road. There are three stoplights south of the S&S and you can hear them racing away from each one as they come to them. One night I heard at least four sitting at the nearest light, gunning their engines and when the light changed you could hear them screaming down the road to the next one about a qtr. mile away. All except one. I heard him hit the rev limiter at each gear and just as he hit third I heard a loud BAM and sudden quiet from him, along with some screeching of tires and the sounds of something tumbling. I drove over there and his buddies had already called 911, he was banged up pretty good, as was his bike. The tell tale sign of a blown engine was all over the highway and the grass, and the entire bottom of the engine was exposed. I found out later he had just installed nitrous and was trying it out for the first time. They were sweeping up parts for thirty minutes, covering at least 100 yds. on the road, plus they spread some junk on the oil to soak it up so they could sweep it up as well. The kid, he spent nearly a week in the hospital. Apparently he almost lost the lower half of his right leg when the engine let go. Had major reconstruction on his foot as well.
