While digging into my new-to-me supercharged Valk I was astonished to see the incredibly small air filter, no let me call it a breather, that this proud engine was inhaling through. The bike is a Standard with an Interstate tank which does add to the issue of fitting an appropriate air filter - but really!? Before getting serious about fine tuning this bike I had to do something about this limitation.

I was intrigued by Dreamaker's air filter snorkel but didn't like the extensive fit up of the many pieces. This was his:

Instead I used two pieces of 65mm silicone air intake hose along with some stainless steel couplers to fit this round K&N 6" x 3" filter snug against the engine mount. The air filter has an offset intake on the back that makes this adaptation work. I had to relocate an ignition coil so I had to redo the ignition wiring and decided to go *BLING* with it. I not entirely done with it yet but it's coming along. I'm not liking the blue looms and will change to black. I still have room to reach the seat release and reach the petcock - but barely.

The filter is HUGE compared to what was there but still doesn't stick out to even touch my leg.

The hardest part was making room for the Kuryakyn transmission cover. I did have to relieve it here and there with a dremel but you can't see it after the air filter is in place. And the best part - More Chrome!
