 Sad
We had some rain here early in the week.  Nothing like in NE but only about 5" a year so for an hour it rained and even a little hail and seemed like a lot.  I was going to head up the south entrance of Joshua Tree Nat. Park to look around as they had some flash flooding.

Well no way!  Road missing in a few places, big drop offs on side in spots.  Here is park service pic.

So I head over to Box Canyon thinking I would ride around 30 miles through twisty canyon . . . Guess what?

I decided to go to Chiriaco Summit, the high point of Box Canyon Road along I-10, and have some breakfast.  General Patton trained about a million soldiers for North Africa there at beginning of WWII.  Stopped to say hi to the General and his dog on the way out.

Not the ride I started out on, but about 100 mi and a good breakfast.  cooldude

Wow! I've been to Box Canyon - when did they put that museum there? Looks like a nice ride!

Been through Joshua Tree a number of times. Right outside of there, if I recall, were the first windmills I ever saw.

Roger the museum is at Chiriaco Summit, interesting little gas stop halfway between Palm Springs and Blythe on I-10.  Built by Joe Chiriaco who opened gas and general store in 1933.     Gas, Diner, one room post office, and museum.

Wish I could make it to your BBQ.  Sad

And as I look at it more I see Patton himself did not train the million troops, but established the training center.  My Bad! Shocked

Michael K. I'm going to try a 2 - 3 day trip over that way in Oct and will send you a PM. cooldude
