I'm anticipating rplacing my windshield with a new Clearview shield. I understand they use the same mounts as the OEM, and are basically just a swap out. My question is, can I re-use the old gasket material that separates the brackets from the shield, or should I replace that gasket (looks like I could replace old gaskets with an inner tube cut to shape, if necessary)?

I just did mine and the old gasket material was fine. I did take advantage of having everything apart by cleaning all the chrome trim. Sparkles now and looks brand new. All the holes line up nicely but it does take some muscle and three hands to get the windshield to bend properly which allows the front and back hardware to line up so you can insert the bolts through the assembly.

Bama, It's been a few years ago, but CLearview sent me new 'gaskets' when I got one from them. Maybe they no longer offer that, I don't know? Call em. . . they're a great company to deal with. They ended up sending me three FREE bottles of their plastic clean/polisher stuff. KW

Use 1/4" longer bolts to secure the new shield on the mounting hardware. Once all together take out the generic bolts one at a time and replace with the original chrome ones. Will save you some grumbling.

Sheets, that's the kind of tip that really makes sense! Bet it makes for an easier install. Thanks, Pard!

I didn't receive a new gasket from Clearview but mine was usable. Be careful during removal though, it is thin. Also, caution when tightening the chrome plate/frame back on when finishing it up, it will bend or indent...

I installed a new Clearview a few weeks ago. I reused the factory gasket - - no problem. The windshield is a little thicker than stock making the bolts/nuts a little difficult to reassemble, but no biggy. I have a pouch system that installs with those bolts which are too short and couldn't reinstall it. Anybody know where I can get longer chrome replacement bolts?

Any Ace Hardware store has oodles of chrome bolts, acorn nuts, metric, SAE, etc. Bring your wallet though! Hoser
