Undecided  If any one has done this with a size other than standard, was there a noticeable difference in handling ? I will probobly use 412's.  I have gone darkside with 255/55/16 to get a little less height already. Not good when your built too low to the ground. Any input will be welcomed.  Thanks Cazy Dago crazy2

I think you mean 205/55/16, not 255....right?  Anyway, I have 12" Progressive 412's on my ride with a 205/60/16 car tire. Rides & handles fine but I did have to do the washer mod on the rear fender to keep it from rubbing, I had previously removed the nut cage . I also have heavy duty springs set about in the center.

I just found out about a week ago myself what the washer mod is.

You should have no problem with 12's instead of 13's.  cooldude

You should likely not have to do the fender washer mod.... unless you are one of the lucky few.  tickedoff

When you lower the rear of a MC, it changes the rake of the front end. The turning will be worse. Yes, you will affect the handling negatively.

If you lower the rear, it increases rake. Raising the rear reduces rake. More rake, turns easier.

More importantly lowering the rear increases the trail, which is already long at 5.98" stock. This increases the tendency of the steering to 'flop' at low speeds.
I rode a friend's Valk with progessives and it was quite noticeable compared to my stock setup.

Tendency to flop at low speeds is right, but makes for less turning effort at higher speeds.

   More RAKE = More TRAIL

Am I mistaken?  ??? My understanding is that increasing the trail makes bike more stable at speed and INCREASES effort to turn.  Shortening trail (sport bikes) decreases effort to turn thus making them more maneuverable than the Valk.

Donald is correct: If you rake out the front end, The bike becomes stable for straight line riding. But it won't go around corners very well. Steeper rake angles increase cornering ability but may require the rider to be more on his/her toes. Therefor, raising/lowering the rear of a bike changes the way it handles. I prefer better cornering. No lowering the rear for me.

I'm a short guy... 5'8" on a good day.  I put 11.5" 412s on the back of mine and notice no ill effects.  Rides and handles just fine.  More nimble than my Ace.
