Im getting a Golan Petcock for my I/S.  They offer it in 22mm and 3/8 sizes.  Which is the correct size for our bikes?  What length is the tube for the reserve?  Also, what size fuel filter?

The usual Pingle specified for the Valkyrie inlet is 22mm but the outlet is 5/16". I can't speak to the height of the reserve tube or filter screen they use.

IIRC, Warlock is using one.  Contact him.

I went with the Golan in black.  Very nice petcock.  Also the pickup tube for reserve is almost the identical length as the stock tube.  My question is this though.  The Golan comes with a nice steel screen, except that with the screen on, the petcock wont fit in the tank.  I also bought a Golan In Line filter so can I just nix the in tank screen or is one mandatory?

Did you remove the OEM screen when you removed the petcock? My screen remained stuck in the tank when I pulled mine. A pair of needle nose pliers was required to extract it. Then perhaps the Golan screen will fit? Otherwise, an inline filter should work fine for the engine but you could still get crud in your petcock causing problems with the seals.

Yes I did take out the stock filter/screen.  It was stuck in there after I took off the stock petcock.

I just talked to Golan.  They have a petcock with a smaller diameter tube that will fit with the screen.  I would have to send this one back and they will send me the other unit.  The owner said though that since Im running their inline filter, I do not need the screen.  I drilled him on this and he said there is nothing that will get into the petcock that will hurt or affect it.  The filter will filter out anything when it gets there.  He said if Im more comfortable with the other unit no problem but the screen isnt needed with the filter.  Thoughts?  Just want to be sure but I think I should trust his opinion.

I believe an inline filter would be great for keeping crap out of the carbs and do a much better job of it that a screen would, however it is on the output of the petcock..though I think any particulates would flow directly through the pectock, unless of course you threw a bucket of sand or rock in the tank.
