Kendall, Michael K, Duane (Wizard) and I spent a wonderful weekend riding to & around Zion National Park in Utah.  Kendall & I had been to Zion a few years back with some Cajuns -- but it's such a beautiful experience that it's certainly worth a 2nd, 3rd, 4th trip.

The ride up was glorious once we got up around Payson and beyond.  Weather was much warmer over the weekend than we expected but once we were north it was a nice weekend -- until Sunday afternoon when we dropped back down into this hell we call the Valley of the Sun.

All total we rode about 1040 miles, which is a short trip for Kendall and I -- but this is our 1st real ride since we came home from Elko, NV in May.  We headed out on Friday morning and was back home before bed on Sunday.

Stayed at a wonderful little place called Mt. Carmel Motel & RV Park.  Owner was a elderly lady and couldn't have been sweeter.

High points (outside of the companionship) was the couple of close calls with a pair of Bambies and the tourist chasing a herd of sheep back and forth across the road right in front of us!  ***#$%@#$% tourist #$%@#$***

On the way back home Sunday Michael took us around be Jacobs Lake which is a really nice area and spectacular ride --- swung back up the hill to the look out on the way to Page so we could catch a couple of the road side vendors (looking for me a new watch) --- parked the Valks and no sooner did we get 2 steps away from our Dragons they were swarmed by about a dozen tourists off a bus that was there checking out the vendors.  It was hilarious (pictures included)

If you've never been to Zion I would highly recommend adding it to your bucket list -- it's worth the kick!

Hey, ya done good on releasing the pictures.     Sure brought back a bunch of memories of some of my rides years ago.

Do have 1 question however.

In the beginning you had Duane (Wizard), what did ya do, park for the night and then leave before he could get around the next morning?      Shame on ya.   I know, it was AZ Micheal's idea.   He thought about that one time with me in Florida.     lol........

Lovely pictures.        However, I saw a few pictures where your priceless melon didn't have a glob of plastic encasing it.    What's the deal?     uglystupid2

Thanks for posting. Lot's of memories,  Smiley and have done that trip from the Valley up through Payson, Flagstaff, Page, Bryce Canyon, and then Zion, and back south to the Valley again. Wasn't lucky enough to do by bike, but last time I went was in February of 2008. I remember that in Bryce Canyon it was about 20 below zero at night. Would not have been good by bike come to think of it.

That is (and was) a fantastic trip. Many of the pictures we took are like yours. One thing, when we were in Bryce Canyon, there was a lot of snow in the upper elevations. The area looks totally different in winter with the white of the snow contrasting with the red of the Whoo Doos (I think that is what they called them). Then Zion was a total contrast.

Great trip report! Thanks! cooldude

Roll Eyes RJ you don't miss a thing!

1st -- we didn't run off and leave Wizard --- he ran off and left us!   coolsmiley  He was "passing" through and we were lucky enough for him to join us on our journey north.  From Zion he looped through CA and headed back home --- you know Lyn-Del she had work for him back home! (Actually they have a wrench party scheduled for tomorrow).  It was great to see him for the couple days we did get to spend together   cooldude

As for the glob of plastic missing ---- I guess we're BUSTED!  Riding through Zion is really low speeds and it was rather warm (hell of a lot more than we anticipated) ----- so we opted to cruise all-natural

A bit of a gamble -- but we played safe and had a GREAT time   Wink
