The exaust can overheat the rear brake light switch and possibly cause a brake fluid leak, resulting in rear brake failure.

Any manufacturer is liable to have problems - there are so many individual parts that go into the make up of one "vehicle" that there will never be a perfect one designed.

S'not just HD folks.  cooldude

Izzat the brake light switch made in Mexico, or the one made in China?
88% of all harleys ever registered are still on the road. the rest made it home.
(I just love that one).
I have a friend who just bought a new one. He says the heat is unbareable.
26K, and they want $800 to make it bearable.

We have a guy that rides with us from time to time that buys a new Harley every year ( He works for the area's largest dealer ) . Last time he rode with us he was claimin' his wife can't ride with him cause the heat cook's her right leg  Sad  He said if something was'nt done to get some of the heat off her he would not be getting another one.

I like that one too!

I had a buddy who paid $1200 extra for the "chrome package" put on his HD before he even picked it up.
When I compared it to my Suzuki, my "chrome package" came with the original price.

But you know,  "to each his own".

I loathe Harley Davidson (The company). If someone enjoys 'em however, that's their business, more power to 'em...

As far as the recall goes, IMHO not good or bad, it's just a thing. Happens to the best of companies, and they're doing what they should do, fessing up to it and making things right.

The real bad part is that if the REAR brake is lost OH MY what would they do since MANY wont use the fronts.  Maybe someone should make brake pads in the shape of boot soles so they can attach them to the bottoms of their boots and then do the Fred Flinstone thing!!

Put the bar and shield logo on it then overprice it and HD shops wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelves.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

My HD bud takes off the pipe that goes up near the seat and gets one made so it sets lower. This is on the EVO's tho, not sure about the twin cams. He wont own one anyway.

They changed the exhaust pipe config
I think in 09 and the pipe goes under the bike.
I have to admit it took me a while to get
mine tuned and running like A Harley should
right from the git go.

I have set in Traffic well over 100 degrees on the Valk and the Harley.

It's hot on either.

If you get the Harley fuel injection tuned to your new pipes or other mods, it's leaness is gone and therefore cooler.

More fuel = Better Cooling.

If you run them stock and lean you will get more heat.
