Waiting on Salvage Title, Oh What to do?

It's been over 2 months since Allstate sent me my payoff check and sent my title to the state of Ga to be replaced with a salvage title. They said it would take 4 to 6 weeks to issue the salvage title. I have called DMV twice and they said they have not recieved anything on this VIN and nothing was in progress. I've decided not to bother these busy civil servants anymore, if Allstate or the state has lost the title, then I'll just apply for a replacement license plate and title, repair my scoot and put it back on the road. Is there a down side here I don't see?

If this will fly, you'll be a lot better off at resale time.

This bike came out of Georgia with a salvage title...It took forever to get the title from Georgia best I can remember 6 to 7 weeks....Once I had the salvage title in hand I turned it over to The Great State Of Tennessee to get my Re-Built title...Took about 4 days to get the title back....Wish I had some words of advice for dealing with Georgia but I have none
