Where is this "weep hole" on the water pump?  Was doing a search on WP leaks, and saw many references to it.  The service manual doesn't show or mention it.

I'm getting a few drops now and again from the drain bolt on the WP.  It appears to be leaking through the sealing washer.  Hope it's just the washer.  It's plenty tight.

CHIEFY....if you lay on the right side of the bike, take a strong flashlight, and above the drain plug there is a metal overhang (kinda semi-circle).  if you shine your flashlight under that, with the light shining from left to right, you can see the weep hole.

I can see exactly where you mean, but damn, I don't see any weep hole.  There's 4 fins on the pump.  You're talking about the bottom fin when you say "metal overhang?"

...see page 6-12 of the service manual, they call it an "inspection hole"........... it is rearward from the drain plug.

Thanks.  Cleaned that area all out, and it looks like it's leaking from the weep hole.

Lots of folks have had the top radiator hose clamp loose and leak down onto the engine and run over to the left side and them drip.  If you changed the anti freeze and used the kind with silicates in it, that could make it leak.  Or it could just have worn the seal out.

most equipment you can get a new bearing (integral with the shaft usually) and a mechanical seal and rebuild it but haven't looked up the parts for the Valk.

I didn't tilt the radiator forward and check the thermo, but I looked very closely at the pump and area around it.  No coolant running down onto the pump.  No coolant to be seen on the engine or wet hoses.  For sure it's coming out the weep hole.

I'm a "plug and play" wrencher.  I'll just unbolt one, and bolt the new one on.

if you pull the water pump without draining the oil first, you will lose part of the oil.  You might as well change the oil in the process, drain it first.

Thanks, did some reading here.  I'm due for an oil change right now anyway.  Penetrating oil on the bolts, tap them with the engine warm, sealing washer on the drain bolt.  Antifreeze looks perfect, but I'll put in new anyway.  Don't know what's in it right now.

My bike sat all summer and when I came back to Florida, it started weeping and after a few rides it cleared up.
Saying that, I did have to change the ewater pump last year, and it was really weeping.
I thought it was coming from the drain hole, but the weep hole is like next to it.
