A good friend passed away early Sunday morning after a long bout with Cancer.  His Name was Jeff and he was a Goldwing 1800 darkside rider.  He had been in the hospital for a few weeks In Philly so we decided to take a ride with a few guys from our local bike group on Sat.  I was not ready to see him in that condition.  He was in and out most of the time we were there with a high fever and it was very sad. His wife had hopes of him coming out of it but I had that feeling.  I can hope he went peacefully with his family by his side.   GOD Speed Jeff.  RIP my friend.  You will be missed.   PS Jeff Loved the TWISTYS and his wife Willie rode the Dragon many times and kept wanting me to go.  I am sorry I had not made but something tells me this is the year if at least in memory of Jeff.  Ride on, Ride on Cry

Thats always tough...thats how it was with my first wife too.......One doctor kept talking like there was hope, three others (not so much) I had that feeling too but didnt want to believe it was the end.  She lasted 3 months after they diagnosed the cancer.  Ya, you dont want to see them like that for sure, but you have to replace the mental image of how they looked just before it was over with how they looked when healthy.  It takes a while of remembering the good times and then you find one day that the memory you easily recall is a nice one not a bad one

Thanks guys. Jeff had cancer for the pass 11 years.  He had been doing pretty good till this passed summer when he got a different type of cancer and it seem to really knock him down.  He kept fighting till the end.  He was one heck of a rider and told me he got the idea to go darkside from a Valk rider he meet on the Dragon years ago.

We could dedicate this poem to Jeff... R.I.P.

THE DASH
(By Linda Ellis)

I read of a man who stood to speak
at his mother’s funeral.

He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of her birth;
then spoke of the second date with tears.

But he said what mattered most of all …
was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth.

And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own...
the bikes, the cars, the house, the cash …

What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?

For you never know how much time is left,
that can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real;

And always try to understand
the way other people feel;

And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more;

And love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before…..

If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile;

Remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while…

So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life's actions to rehash:

Would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent your dash?

You feel diminshed when a friend dies. You wonder how you will keep going feeling the way you do. I lost two of my closest friends over the past couple o' years. One had told me, "All you really have is your friends."  Family & friends. They complete you somehow and you dissolve a little bit when they pass, IMHO.

I get a tattoo just to make sure I never forget them. Stupid perhaps but it lessens the pain for me somewhat. I'm pretty tatted out at this point.

Sorry for your loss.......
