Noise on start-up

Hi Guys
Been while since I've posted anything, been logging some miles though. My 98 Tourer has a noise on starting that been driving me nuts til this weekend. It almost sounds like a rod knock(maybe a little tinny for a rod) for 2-3 seconds after start-up then goes away.
On sunday the noise stayed around much longer,It's coming from the left muffler(stock) and now it quites up as it gets hot.
Has anyone else had problems with the stock exhaust baffles coming loose inside that can?I did the glasspack mod on my 00 std and it was a lot work.guess I'm shopping for a l/s exh.

If you have two bikes, switch the exhaust systems and see what happens. If the noise migrates to the other bike, it's the problem; if not, there's something else going on.

Fired mine up today-been sittin for 2 months--- sounded like a lifter rattle for a bit---let her warm up and it went away--temp was 40 sumpin-it is only reasonable that all the oil was in the pan and had to get warm and pump to cylinders--my guess--

I've been hearing this for a while now. It's definitly coming from the right muffler not the engine. This bike doesn't sit for long.I posted wondering if anyone else has had a muffler come apart inside?
