I have a neighbor who has (had) a big 'ol Sego palm in his front yard that came down with a disease. He spent a lot of money and time trying to nurse that stupd thing back to health. One day he just snapped, went into the house and retrieved his .40 Glock and emptied a magazine into it  2funny

I call BS on the 3-lb hammer story though

well i guy i worked with a couple years ago was trying to paint his tank,, black with ghost flames,, he couldnt get it just right so he took a 16 pounder and "fixed" the whole bike.. smashed it to smithereens,, after that he was afraid that if he lost his temper with his kids he didnt know what would happen, so he went to the doctor,, the shrink said he was fine and not to worry those actions,, well he hasnt had any outburst since then and is still a good friend,,,

I hear those stories all the time on the evening news...."He was such a nice guy"...or..."He was a quiet neighbor" ...and the story that follows describes the carnage and body count.

I depends entirely on how or why it was beat up.  I hope your curiosity is satisfied.

I'm disturbed you would ask that question, but not curious.

Years ago I took my weedeater to a big oak tree in my front yard ...I still finds parts of it from time to time .I've never looked back went that sameday and bought me the top of the line weedeater....I hope this is a BS post if not lets see some pictures.

When I was an angst-filled teen, I busted up some stepping stones down in the corner of the yard
with a sledge, it felt good. Turns out my father had plans for them, he noticed right away. It is
embarrassing not to have a good reason for busting up your father's stuff with a sledge hammer  Smiley ...

I have watched both my stepfather and father in law destroy things out of rage and sadness. With my stepfather it was mostly things. My mother used to have a half-mood shaped three tier table that she kept tchotchkys and curios on. Things she had collected over her entire life. One day he was working on his 78 Dodge Ram and couldn't get it started, came in the house and started yelling. He picked the table up and smashed it along with almost every single item on it. My mother was devastated. He was not a monster, he just had a lot of rage and no idea how to control it. He felt awful about it and to this day I think he's still trying to make up for that. Granted the value of the items wasn't even close to that of a rare bike like a Valkyrie, but the emotional impact was just as great.

My FIL I've watched destroy his body, mind and family with alcohol.

I don't want to see pictures of the destruction. I find it all too hard to believe that it happened. Nothing about this post is inconsistent with what I know about people who this kind of thing and then feel terrible about it.

It will never suprise me as to the limits some people will go in a fit of rage.

But, I have seen a lot worse.

The bike not starting was just the trigger to something big, pent up.

I hate it, but relatively speaking, better the Valk than taking a gun to a college campus.

Go see a counselor, you've got issues.  By telling that story, here, you've got something inside you screaming for help.

DEEEEEPP ISSUUUUEEESSSSSS.
I have stresses and Military memories that never see the light of day too.
If youre hiding berhind that, you do a diservice to the military and yourself.
Killing something I love just dosent factor into the equasion though.
If true; After 6 posts, you need help, fast and long.

Dude, get a shop manual and diagnosis the problem.  Don't throw parts at it.  That's the expensive way to go as you found out.

Just so it'd fit in the trash can ya know.

That's what I was doing with the recliner.... it wouldn't fit in the big garbage dumper in one piece......but all the pieces fit when I was done with my custom work.

What exactly is he laughing about? It hasn't exactly been a roaring blaze in here.

My sincere condolences to both you and the bike. I can identify with your frustration as there isn't a day that goes by that I don't want to take a sledgehammer, or shotgun to my computer for one reason or another. However , I have learned to walk away and count to 10, or 10,000 if needed!

Why does everyone feel the need to bash this poor guy? Fits of rage are not always controlable. I'm sure he feels horrible about this, and if he's visited and read the responses probably won't be back. Sad

I am sad to announce the death of my 1998 Valkyrie custom Standard. After replacing the headlight...ya know, the one with all color coded and one fit connections. After doing that it started and ran one day and quit. The next day I asked you guys what it could be and got lots of great ideas. I did replace the battery, did not wok, replaced the start relay, did not work, replaced the starter, did not work, the start and kill switch, did not work, all the fuses and anything else you guys and the Honda dealer (good friend) could think of. So, today after the last try, after spending lots of money and time getting parts it did not run, just nothing.
I had enough, the thing got the best of me and I kind of freaked out (retired military with some "Issues")
I took my handy 3LB hand sledge and proceeded to smash the tank, gauges, side covers, fenders and of course the headlight which caused it all.
I left it alone in the nice warm garage I had for it and went and bought a X-Mas tree for the Grandkids. I got back couple of hours later and sat down to look at the destruction I had caused to my bike of many years that had never caused me any problems and always ran great. I had put thousands of extras into her and kept it washed and waxed after every run.
It did feel great to do this I must say, for a minute that is. I cant afford to rebuild her on my military retirement and so it will just sit there and rot most likely. I wont sell or give her away, just let her sit there so I can see what I have done to the one thing I had, that I took care of, that was only mine. I will double the dose of my meds actually marked for "RAGE" and "ANGER" and see how that works but I will never reclaim what I have lost or undo the damage. Never let yourself get to this point, take this as something a lost soul could only do.
Goodbye Dragon, I am sorry.

You really ought to click the link in my signature line.  If you've read the thread, you know that rage is not uncommon, and even more damaging when it hurts people, and not just things.
