If you want to kill this board and this club that might be a good way to do it. We have a Valkyrie only board right now. It's the Tech Board. I go there for a few minutes once or twice a week. But not very often because it's boring as hell when your not having a tech problem.

The general board is for everything else. That's simple and easy to understand. I'm a member of many boards, both motorcycle, firearms and hunting related. Most of them are so divided up into little used segments that it is too time consuming and boring to bother with them.

I know many of you are able to access this board at work and so, perhaps, have time to look through a bunch of little compartments to find the niche that interests you while protecting yourself from other info which might disturb you. I'm not one of those, I still work with my hands more than with a keyboard, I come home dirty, tired, and frequently with very little time and patience. And when I have very little time this is the only board I go to because it's not separated into a bunch of little cliques.

Myself, I love this board and this club, but I don't have the patience or time to sort through that kind of crap. Nor will I do so.

This discussion comes up every year or two whenever someone thinks that the opinion of someone they don't agree with is getting too much air play. I can just imagine someone staring at a post, knowing it's going to piss them off and then reading it anyway and then complaining about it. WTH?

I'm capable of deciding for myself what posts to read, I don't need protected from anyone's posts, I don't need protected from too much information and I don't need my delicate sensibilities protected from someone with a different perspective. And, as you can see, I don't have a lot of patience for those who do need this kind of protection.

I'll never quit this board because I read a post I didn't like and could have skipped. If someone else does then then let em go back to their knitting board.

Spot on ................. my feelings exactly, I was composing a similar post a half hour ago and when went to post it, I pressed the wrong button of something and it all disappeared, (insert rant and choice words here) Anyway I'm over it ...........Thanx for posting.

Here's a prime example of such a Forum so fragmented as to make it painful to negotiate, http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/  Some sections are rarely posted on or perhaps one or two a week.  Not worth my time to sift through the chaff and I own a Canaian Pontiac.   crazy2

I've been around here for awhile.  I like the board just like it is.  I've learned from even those people that I don't agree with and my education continues.

If I don't like a post, I don't have to feed the fire by replying to it since I'm not going to change anyone's mind.

There is adequate measures that we can take to ignore what we don't like.

Even though the Valk is no longer made, I value the friendships that I've made through this board.  That's what it's about.

one last word.............If this board would be limited to talking about the Valkyrie with the exclusion of any other brand or model ,  I would withdraw from this board permanently.  Talking only about the Valkyrie would emphasize the machine rather than the person.

Can we PLEASE at least have an Advil only board? Cheesy Grin 2funny

vBulletin has a WONDERFUL feature known as "Putting someone in Coventry". I admin a vBulletin forum, and I've only done it a VERY small number of times, but it's GREAT. What it does is it puts it where EVERYONE ignores everything the person in Coventry posts, but the person in Coventry isn't told this, they think that everyone is really just ignoring everything they say, whereas in reality no one (But us admins) are seeing what they're saying at ALL...

Serk, on Delphi forums, that same feature is called BOZOING somebody.  In moderating the Valk forum on Delphi for a number of years, I only bozoed one guy.... who could not stop attacking and disrespecting people.

I use an even simpler solution:  If I believe the contents of the subject line indicates a subject that's likely to annoy me or hurt my feelings, I don't open it. And, on those occassions when the subject line fools me or is ambiguous, and I find upon opening it I don't like the contents, I close it immediately.    angel   2funny

Simple ain't it?  The KISS method at it's finest!
