PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE is owned by Peter Lewis: Who is he? Read this...
You've seen and smiled at the Progressive Insurance TV commercials. Well, as Paul Harvey would
say, you're about to learn the rest of the story:

PROGRESSIVE  AUTO INSURANCE

You know their TV commercials, the ones featuring the ditsy actress all dressed in white. What you might not know is that the Chairman of Progressive is Peter Lewis, one of the
major funders of leftist causes in America.

Between 2001 and 2003, Lewis funneled $15 million to the ACLU, the group most
responsible for destroying what's left of Americas Judeo-Christian heritage.

Lewis also gave $12.5 million to   MoveOn.org    and America Coming Together, two key propaganda arms of the socialist left.

His funding for these groups was conditional on matching contributions from George
Soros, the America-hating socialist who is the chief financier of the Obama political machine.

Lewis made a fortune as a result of capitalism, but now finances a progressive
movement that threatens to destroy the American free enterprise system that is targeting television shows on Fox News.

Peter Lewis is making a fortune off of conservative Americans (who buy his auto insurance) that he applies to dismantle the very system that made him wealthy.  He's banking on no one finding out who he is, so, STOP buying Progressive Insurance and pass this information on to all your friends… Chairman Lewis' gift helps the ACLU promote their anti-Christmas agenda such as:
A·    Removing nativity scenes from public property
A·    Banning songs such as Silent Night from schools
A·    Refusing to allow students to write about the Christian aspect of Christmas in school projects
A·    Renaming Christmas break Winter break
A·    Refusing to allow a city sponsored Christmas parade to be called a Christmas parade
A·    Not allowing a Christmas tree in a public school
A·    Renaming a Christmas tree displayed on public property a Holiday tree

In addition to their war on Christmas, the ACLU uses gifts like that from Chairman Lewis to:
A·    Sue states to force them to legalize homosexual marriage
A·    Force libraries to remove porn filters from their computers
A·    Sue the Boy Scouts to force them to accept homosexuals as scout leaders
A·    Help legalize child pornography
A·    Legalize live sex acts in bars in Oregon
A·    Protect the North American Man Boy Love Association whose motto is "sex by eight or it is too late"
A·   Censor student led prayer at graduation
A·    Remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance
A·    Remove "In God We Trust" on our currency
Verify at http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/peterlewis.asp or http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/aclu-lewis.htm
All of a sudden I don't care for their "funny commercials"

Sorry to say I have Progressive Ins. on the cars house and bike.  But they gave me the best deal around.  Unless somebody beats them, I will stay based on the price alone.   What he does with his wealth, I have no control over.

I already knew this, and didn't even consider Progressive for any of my insurance, regardless of how "cheap" it may be.

I'm with Greg.

I am as far right as they come for a naturalized American Citizen of Hispanic origin (not Mexican), but I implore you to read the snopes link in its entirety.

We need to come together as Americans and stop this he did this and they did that crap and start building back our economy and rebuilding the respect for our Country.

There are so called Americans running around burning the flag on our own front yards and we say it's their "right"....  seriously?!?!?

Now I have to go ride my Valk.

I've read this before....may or may not be true. I have Prog
on my Valk but nothing else. They'll NEVER get back all the
money they spent on me on our '07 mishap!! The crackhead
that almost killed us was pitifully under-insured and Prog had
to spend close to 30K paying our bills....plus the 9K they gave
me for what was left of our '03 Valk. It'd take a LONG time
to recoup that much at $160/year!!!!

Wow! Where can I buy ACLU insurance?? Sounds great! Evil

OK - I better speak English - a bit of a leap there, from an insurance company, or better yet an individual, to that of a group he supports (probably among many others) - and then pick-listing the latter's actions that you disagree with.

Anyway, SNOPES tells me that this forum went around the block on this topic just a few months ago.  Cheesy

And in 2010.... http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,21037.0.html

As reminded by this topic, I just opened my 2012 renewal. $812 for the year (Wikipedia; tm; YEAR: maybe 6 months of decent riding weather). So when I see stuff like '$160.00', I do stuff like this:  Cry

I just checked my policy with Progressive.  $221.00 full year with full coverage on my Vstrom 1000 including towing , and $3,000 coverage for accessories.

I probably would be shocked if I were to check to see where my money is going for other services and products especially for gas AND products of Communist China.

I'll trudge on.

I'll have to check Progressive out!!  I maybe paying too much with my current Foremost/AARP policy.  About the only thing I have against the ACLU is their misguided interpretation of the Second Amendment.  All of their other stands for the Bill of Rights is right on in my opinion.

Peter Lewis is no longer the CEO, but is still the Board Chairman.

I would never give Progressive Ins one red cent.

YMMV, mine won't.

You're kidding?  I have everything with USAA, except my bike ins.  They would have insured it, but they wouldn't allow me to carry way lower liability on the bike than I do the cars.  So I went with Geico (for 20 years).  I have never gone back to see what USAA would do, but I had not heard they stopped covering bikes entirely.  Could it just be your State?

Edit, I just checked their site and they do offer bike ins........ thru Progressive;  that's disappointing.  Embarrassed
https://www.usaa.com/inet/pages/insurance_motorcycle?SearchRanking=2&SearchLinkPhrase=motorcycle%20insurance

That's why the USAA General Agency through Progressive makes it easy to get the protection you need for your motorcycle, moped or all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

I had Progressive (I thought it was the best deal too) until I learned about their left leaning support, so I shopped around.......got a better deal with Alstate since our house and cars were with them.  I was paying $140/yr with 2K for assessories and full coverage with towing with Progressive.  Alstate gives me the same exact coverage dot for dot for under $100 bucks.  Dont tell me Alstate is sending money to Iran for nuclear development or something because Im tired of searching for insurance for cars and house and bike.  It wears me out and Im through for a while (I hope)

Didn't know this about Progressive!? Soros and Lewis are the type of people that need to be put in their place. IMHO their funded causes are ruining this country. I'll be looking for new insurance even if it costs more. Just can't believe how many people have drunk the "koolaide".  tickedoff

Oh by the way, Progressive's roadside assistance is severly limited as compared to what AAA offers. Found out last summer when one of my bikes "crapped out" on me,  Progressive would take the bike  to the nearest repair facility or 30 "custom" miles. AAA hauled my bike on a flatbed for a total 82 miles to my home. The driver was even a fellow cyclist and treated my bike as if it were his own.  cooldude

Well I don't know about any political stance - and don't really want to know - but I've been with State Farm for decades with cars, house & bikes - they have always taken very good care of me, paid off promptly when I had a claim, and no pushback.  Also, they cover my Valk for all of the accessories at their replacement cost, without charging more on the premiums - as long as I can prove what I have in it.  That makes my coverage at about $28k now (rough, haven't added it up lately) - while their premiums are competitive with other companies in the area.  They of course base premiums on actuarials, for similar claims for similar demographic customers in the area.  Not on my personal history.  IOW - my premiums don't go up with my speeding tickets.  When I killed 2 deer with it in 2001 - they wrote a check for $13,500 - my estimated cost to replace the parts and accessories damaged, including labor.  The bike cost me $12,400 new in '97.  Any other company would have totalled it and wrote a check for less, and claimed the bike as theirs.
Besides that - twice claims for wind damage to the house, water damage when the dishwasher flooded; break-in damage to my SUV and twice car thefts when we used to live in town; hail damage to my first Explorer, geez what else?  All paid promptly and with no hassles or pushback.

+1

ACLU is off base when it comes to second amendment.  Have never understood that blind spot in their otherwise, sometimes unpopular, support for individual rights over those of the government and groups that would deny those rights.

MarkT, I feel for ya buddy, but I just can't reach ya.   When I started driving in 1948, by parents had State Farm.    I got my own car and the agent wrote me up a separate policy in my name and with the parents address.    When I went in the service I used this policy to cover my car and bike in San Francisco, Parris Island and Swamp Lejeune.   When I got orders the 1st time to go to Korea, I brought the car back and dropped it off at my parents house, with only Liability on it.     Fast forward 6 years, and my wife passed during child birth.   Somehow the company found out and canceled my insurance.   My agent went to bat and all they told him was a catastrophic situation happened and that justified their canceling the policy.    So, I have been with my current company for the last mucho # of years.   PS:  There was never a claim for me or for anyone else in the time I had them.......   My premiums were out landish for about 5 years due to theri being a cancelation of a policy on my record.
