I won't but a CFL bulb. I've begun using LED dimmable bulbs. Even more expensive but are safer and longer lasting than inc or CFL bulbs.

I found a great price on incandescent bulbs and stocked up.  Even though the new law ending their production has been unfunded, it's still gonna happen, that's only a delay.  I bought 600 100w & 60w bulbs.  I'll never run out - and when you can't get them anymore - I'll be selling them at what the market will bear.  I figure maybe $2 a pop.

          Start sarcasm here :
You should give them to the needy people that can not afford lightbulbs (unless they cancel the 500 extra cable channels ) because you obviously have enough already. Now you are just kicking poor folk while they are down and getting rich off of their desire to give their children (17 + 1 on the way) light!

I saw an article about a German company that got around the ban there by selling them as screw in heaters.

I'm probably going to jump over the CFL to led. I don't know how long LED's last before they burn out, but I was impressed by the performance on 'myth busters'

the machines that used to make incandecents were miracles of technology, just one could produce enough for most of the world. thing of the past eh?

I hate the CFLs I had them in my closet. I would walk out with the wrong colored socks all the FN time!
Took them out and "properly recycled them"

I wonder if we can load up all the Chinese toxic waste and send it back to China?

Led will outlast anything I know of. I've seen them beaten to death by dropping consistently or other physical abuse but can not confirm ANY burn outs.    They work off lower voltage too! 1 12V auto battery could light your house for days with out charging.
