Apologies if this has already been posted and I'm not sure if any other state allows it, but in Illinois, we can legally run red lights if we've stopped for a reasonable amount of time and our bikes haven't tripped the inductive sensors in the road.
What's interesting is that the "reasonable amount of time" hasn't been defined in the new law.
Most folks are thinking it means 2 minutes, but that part will have to be figured out later.
Several yrs ago, I did run a red after waiting patiently for the light to turn. I did see a car coming way down the road...a white one, but he was over a quarter mile away. When I did decide to go, sure enough, it was a LEO. He pulled me over and after hearing my explanation, he admitted he was a biker also, and let me go. This is a law that makes sense, provided it's not abused.
