Wow, very sad to hear.
Prayers to the family. I know how you all are feeling, lost my Dad last May. Time will heal but never completely, just as it should.
Condolences from Florida.  Cry

I have Gary's bushings and dampers on both of my Valks.  I have the utmost respect for him and am truly sorry for your loss.  He offered great products and service.  Thank you for thinking of us and letting us know.

RIP Gary.

Wow . . . he was a major player on here for several years. He was a key contributor to the "tech" board. A significant number of my archived tech tips are authored by Gary. I have one of his alternator covers that he made a limited production run on a few years back. wow . . . hard to believe. Warm thoughts going your way.

Glad I got to meet him a while back and to use his creations on my bike too. He was certainly great at lightening up his Valk as much as possible...so its not too surprising to hear that he has gotten a few turns ahead of the rest of us. He will be missed. Thank you for taking the time to let us know. I'm sorry for your loss.

Gary was an upstanding man.  Several emails and a phone call regarding his bushings and dampers, and my take-away was that this is a good guy.  This is a surprise this morning and I'm saddened by it.  My condolences to you.  Thank you for letting us all know.

My condolences to you and your family. Gary was an innovator and a friend to many in the motorcycle word.  He will be missed but a piece of him will still be in the wind on many a bike.

I had not had the chance to visit with Gary, but knowing he was there for us helped a lot.

Gary's products have improved my Valks as well. He was always fair and straight in my dealings with him. When I joined the VRCC he was one of the wise men of the tech board, and a big part of my Valkyrie education. We all feel saddened by his passing. Thank you for letting us know.

This is Gary's daughter posting. I wanted to let you all know that he passed away this last weekend. I know that he corresponded with many of you in this forum. Thank you for your involvement in his life.

The news of Gary's passing away comes a total shock to many including myself. I live in Anacortes, WA which is not far from where Gary lived. We spoke on a number of occasions and we met a few years ago at his house. He was a personable man with a love for life. He loved to ride.  My condolences to his family as I am sure that he will be missed by many.

very, very sad. He was a great guy and had a very nice custom valkyrie, that he did himself, esp. the custom gas tank he made with the illusion paint.
have his bushings and dampers also.
We bought and sold things to each other a few times, including an Amsoil Airfilter from me.

Your family are in my prayers for your peace and understanding of God's direction.

As many have mentioned this wasn't the new's that ever entered my mind when I saw the title "Shockbushing Gary",  I will truly miss his insight and knowledge on the VRCC board and the emails we had exchanged over the years.   One of the last emails we had was about missing a set of shock bushings and he said he made a mistake and will get the third set sent to me.  I told him I would pay for shipping but he wouldn't let me.  Very very sorry for the great loss of the Eckermann family has endured.  His legacy will go on and the lives he touched will always be fond of his memories.

I will miss him around, for sure.  God took another great servant home with him.  I managed to do some digging and found his obituary.   Tough to read but I can only hope that I am half of a man Gary was while here.

Thank you, Joe, for finding that.  I've been looking for it for several days.

Gary was a good man and easy to deal with.  He will be missed and left this world much too soon.

My condolences to Gary's family.  I've had the pleasure to turn a wrench with Gary a couple of times, to share a few miles with him while he was one of our own ("VERMIN").  After he had an ugly "get-off" back in about '03, I got the pleasure to brainstorm with him on a few things he was working on to get his Valk back together... and did some horse-trading with him.  Locally, we'd monikered him as "Crip" while he was wearing a body cast on his torso during his healing process.  We paired up for a little garage time back around '05 when he and I tore into my front forks.  It was always a pleasure to share a little banter with Gary on various M/C forums, or to brainstorm on the Tech Board here over the years.

Portia, may God's Peace envelope you, and your family during this time of loss.

Godspeed Gary, your memory will live on within the hearts and minds of the folks you shared with.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Gary but did have his bushings in my Valk. I think the greatest tribute to a man is the testament of those who have walked with him through life. By reading all the outpouring of love and respect for Gary on the VRCC,  it shows he left our community better off for having him been a part of us.

May he be at peace now...
