As I am sitting here reading this post the one lesson that can be learned is to be completely committed to even the most basic motorcycle maintainence immediately....don't let it go.

After reading this I am going to replace my back tire.  I picked up a nail right after I bought it and have been riding it plugged.  However, the fact is that's it's been losing air.  I've monitored the pressure and topped it off before every ride but this post has made my decision easier.

Just have to bite the bullet Sad

Thumper my thoughts exactly.

Gordon ties a string to his handle bars to remind him to take the lifting fixture from under his bike.

He once rode 30 miles with it still in place.

That would have a big mark had it jammed into the back tire.

The kickstand thing comes to mind.

If it had been a Harley it would have simply folded up.

Better engneering.

But hell I would have rode it that way too.

Just put it up is all.

God bless ole Greg he has some of the worst luck.

I'll bet that 90% of us would have done the same thing in bypassing the switch, and would have said to ourselfs that we would remember to put the stand up.  Even if we took off and scraped it, we still would have let it go.  He was "blessed" that he didn't get hurt, and that is a wonderful thing.  AND it is sure great to have friends like all of you are.

Yeah Greg's a good rider much more so than his record would indicate he just seems to have a cloud over his head and bad luck follows like Bad Luck Schleprock from the Flintstones....He was proud of his bike .

Greg has took curves with the best of them on Junk Bikes and on the best one he has ever owned.

The bike is too big for him he told my wife, but still he mastered it magnificently.

The reason it says in the manual that certain things can cause injury or death is that it can.

Little things mean a lot on a bike.

So even the most insignificant malfunction can sometimes in the right situation spell disaster.

I found his 25, his Daddie once owned.

25ACP and it is in perfect condition. Can't remember the brand, but the fit and finish on it are great.

Found the holster first, the pistol had flew a little farther.

Once I found it and Greg was confirmed OK.

The rest was just a little easieri is all.

Joe, sorry to hear 'bout Greg's crash. Sure glad he got clear! The pic's look pretty bad.
All I got to offer for parts are the amber signal lenses off my 2K/IS. All 4 in factory shape. If he can use 'em they're his.
I'll also be glad to attend and lend a hand whenever the wrench party gets set up for the rebuild. (Clean parts, scrub gaskets, gofer, wrench, whatever.)
He's in our prayers. God was sure watchin' out for him if he walked away from that!
Give me a holla.

Man, I hate to hear of a crash but I'm sure glad your bud Greg is OK.

Wish I had some spare parts for him but our valks were pretty well blinged out before we got them so I don't have much in the way of OEM takeoffs.

Bikes can be repaired and even sometimes brought back from the dead. It don't happen that way with us much. Really glad Greg was able to walk away.
