As some may have noticed, it's sold. Well folks, that be me.  Smiley

My friend Carman Allen(leather tooling guy) in Ft. Worth offered to drive down to Austin and pick it up for me if bought it. Later this spring he's coming out for a visit and bringing it with him so I won't get it right away, which is OK with me. I owe him a debt of gratitude for doing this, otherwise there was no way I would have been able to swing it since I'm over 1000 miles away. As a strange coincidence, about two months ago I happened to spot something on Ebay just for this repair. It was all the internal "stuff" needed to fix this, and I picked it up for about $21, a fraction of the cost new and these look new. Came off a wreck with just a few thousand miles on it. At the time the thought crossed my alleged mind that I should buy it, thinking maybe....just maybe some day down the road I might need them. I'll now be watching for a rear engine cover, but a new one is only around $165 from Service Honda. The left saddle bag is toast, the bike was sitting near a fire that broke out in a dealer's shop where he had it while being analyzed. Likewise the taillight lens. Right bag, some damage but I'll have to see if it's repairable. The seat has a bad spot on the left side, it's an Ultimate driver's seat with matching backrest. The corider pillion is OEM. I'm looking forward to having a project to work on, although my wife....not so much. She's afraid she'll lose her spot in the garage for a couple months. She still has this crazy idea that a garage is for cars....hers.  2funny

Congratulations, a project at a great price is always a wonderful thing, and more so if you have another one in riding condition to ease the frustration of those pesky repairs that never quite go as planned. Good luck, John!

Well, I was going to post the link to the Austin, TX Craig's List but it's already removed. Pictures were small anyway. It's a silver/black, looks quite decent except for the heat damaged bags, taillight, license plate reflector and turn signal lens. Here's some pics of the back of the bike the lady sent me today, looks like the right bag has a little heat damage as well. It apparently is/was a converted Tourer since it has a Memphis Shades blue tinted bottom windshield. You can tell by the pics that the bags probably are totaled so I could probably just sell the mounting bracket for them. Unless I find a decent set of aftermarket that will work. Not really the first thing on the agenda. The engine cover shot with the starter removed doesn't really show anything. She told me there was a chunk broken off that was visible through the starter hole. As for the seat, I have two different OEM sets I can use to replace the damaged one....one is OEM black, the other recovered in tan Naugahyde. Again, not high on the list until it's up and running.

Hey John, I live about 4 miles or so from Carman (Cowboy), and would like to see the bike once he brings it home. When is he suppose to go down to Austin and pick it up? About a year and half ago I bought a 99 Interstate for 3K dollars, but it looks like you beat the deal I got on my Interstate. I'm at work right now and can't see the pictures you posted, but I'll get a first hand look at Carman's house. I'll call Carman later and get the low down from him. Your right about Carman, they don't get any better than him. His leather tooling skills are #1. Glad your were able find that valk and I would like to see it after you are done with it.       cooldude

John;

Looks like a good project.  I was thinking on this when I saw the post, but decided it was to far for me. 2k miles or so.

I'm glad someone like yourself got it to repair it, instead of parting it out.

Good luck.
