After I had my Metzler's put on last month,my nephew was following me in my truck on the way home on I-10... some kid started edging me in his 4x4 from the right lane @ 80 while I was passing.. I romped on it up to 110 to get out of that situation.. No problem.

I've had my Valk at something over  a ton.  Even with the sidecar attached, the Valk easily did 95.
I routinely ran about 95 when passing semis in the summer on the Interstate.

While I expected exactly what you said, it is still amusing.  I talked to a sidecar/trike shop about putting a hack on my I/S.  He tried to talk me out of it, since "the only thing with enough power to pull a sidecar is a new Goldwing."  I objected (laughed at him), and he told me he just installed one on a '96, and the guy hated it and took it off.  As we all know, the '96 comment raised some flags.  I asked him "96 what?"  "96 Harley."  I pointed to what I rode in on, and asked him to look again.  He nodded impatiently.
Bottom line, he wanted to sell me a trike kit, not a sidecar.  Not enough profit in it for him on a sidecar.

I've never had the Valk as fast as it wants to go. I always let off before it does. I just don't have the right road to trust moving faster than I can see.

Wasn't long ago I felt I had to hit 100 on nearly every ride. But I'm trying to break that habit. Having  some luck at it..

Nope.....that wasn't me that got into a high speed wobble at 124mph (GPS).....and it wasn't me that took Britman's advice to shift into 4th on a long straight away to see how fast it'd get to 105mph......nor was it me that passed about 8-10 of the "Other Brand" bikes on a steep uphill section of straightaway at 105....it wasn't me that passed that little dude on the Ninja at a 115 with Scooter getting sucked up behind me.....and it sure as heck wasn't me coming back from Savannah on I-16 at 120 for about 5 miles.... cooldude......I don't know how ppl could do stuff like that to the Fat Lady!!..... Shocked

On our way to Yellowstone and Glacier National parks in 2010 we ran though a tank of gas in 85 miles at 95 to 105mph. The boys Valk hit reserve first as it always does. He broke his speedometer cable on that run. We swapped the GPS mount over to his bike at the motel that night and that was his speedometer for the rest of the trip.

Got hit with matching "fast driving awards" in Montana or North Dakota on the way home on US 2, both warnings thankfully.  cooldude

Done it few times. Even kicked back, with one hand on the bars and the other on kits knee.  Evil Nothing better then hitting triples fully loaded, 2 up, passing 30 HD's up a 1/2 mile long hill. We call exit 32-34 the drag stip at sturgis. Coming off that ramp onto the I is nothing but a race. Have not been beat yet.  cooldude

Speed freak here! Have to see how it does, and it does very well thank you!  Back in Amarillo, there were plenty of 10-12 mile straight aways to umm....stretch you legs.
Not done it since I came to the Carolinas,,,,well, maybe once!
I drive I-77 for my commute, 75-80 or some one is riding you arse.
I think I have figured out 2 things here in the Carolinas.
One, Speed limits are hints.
B, its not called tailgating, its called drafting.

When I went to pick up my new to me Interstate, the seller was chatting with me about when he had bought it.

The man from whom he bought the bike told him, "You know, this bike will do a hundred easily."

"Not with me aboard!" he retorted.

This morning I was behind a cage going sixty-five on a two lane.  I thought he should have been doing seventy.  When the traffic cleared, I dropped into fourth gear and moved out around him.  As I pulled back into the right lane I glanced down and I was just passing ninety-five indicated.

I've heard (or read) others say they've ridden their Valkyries for years and never gone over a hundred miles per hour.  Now anyone who knows me will tell you I ride like someone's grandmother and it makes me wonder, how do they do it?   ???

from gunny to granny in just a few short years.. whodathunkit?? angel

At 135 indicated, a Valk standard will go exactly 63 miles from full to reserve.

Thank God my is an IS. It goes further! Evil

I've never owned a vehicle (two or four wheels - three as well come to think of it) that I did not have to as fast as it went. A hundred isn't even fast anymore (as long as you keep the shiny side up and don't fall off).

I have done 120+ many times but the hardest on me was doing 0-100-0mph  in 19 seconds.Due to low blood pressure every time I hit it hard I get dizzy.I'm 69 this month an about 7 years ago out in the Az. desert on a long stretch of road I was practicing stoppies.I decided to try 0-100-0 .I have a clock on my handlebar clamp easy to see.I took off as fast as I could handle it an after doing 100 and stopping without skidding the tires I checked the clock an 19 seconds. What a rush. The valk is fast.

99 IS, California bike, all stock, speedo in miles, not kilometers.

One day, two summers ago, I was somewhere in Saskatchewan following a semi at about 60 when a piece of tire wizzed passed my head. Thinking I didn't want to eat the entire tire when it blew I edged left, saw about a hundred miles of open hiway and twisted the throttle to the stop. I passed the semi, 3 pickups, some cars, another big truck and a Winnebago before getting back to my side of the road. I didn't even downshift!

Still accelerating I looked down to see the speedo at 135! Scared the poop out of me and it took a mile or two to slow down to ten above the limit, not wanting to shake or wobble her. Took a few miles more to stop shaking. Smooth as silk, solid like she was riding on a steel rail. I LOVE this bike.

I do 100 fairly regularly...  Not OFTEN.  A few times a year...

I did have a 110 MPH headshake (tankslapper) chasing Fudgie and Roadkill at the Whiskey Run a couple years ago.  That was NOT fun.
