I have a 2000 Interstate with the stock seat and Utopia backrest. I have a chance to get a Corbin seat with driver and passenger backrests for $350. I am wondering if this would be worth my while. I am about 5' 9" and wonder if the Corbin would put me back too far. Any input?

I'm 5'10, with no handlebar risers. My elbows are locked straight forward when leaning against the back rest of my Corbin seat. Everyone likes to ride in a different position. I feel I have better control of the bike with locked elbows. IMHO, I chose the Corbin for looks rather than comfort, Ultimate seats are more comfortable to me. Anything is better than a stock seat though.

Compared to a shock/OEM seat, does the Corbin put or further back, further forward, higher, lower.....or about the same?

Definitely lower and scoots your position back some, I think so anyway. I do know for a fact my passenger prefers the Corbin passenger seat and back rest over the stock. I'm usually riding solo but the passenger get's lifted up a few inches with Corbin

You better sit on a Corbin before you buy. Or you could just go sit on your sidewalk.

You better sit on a Corbin before you buy. Or you could just go sit on your sidewalk. If you have the opportunity you should ALWAYS try out a seat before you buy. Personally, I like Corbins. They fit my byootocks perfectly. But not all butts are created alike. What works for mine may not work for yours.

I personally like the corbin seat.It looks great an I have logged over 200000 miles on two diff. bikes with corbins.Kinda pricy but its only money.I'm looking to get my valk corbin seat reupholstered soon as it is worn pretty bad. This time I'm going with a buckskin leather. There are some shops that do antique car interiors here that also do motorcycle seats.

I rode a stock seat for a very long time. I now sit in the comfort of an ultimate bigboy. I have friends that love thier corbins and swear by them as the best seat. I also have friends that had corbins and swore at them. To each his own. If you can ride one first you can make an educated opinion.

I would recommend trying before buying. They are not for me.They look great and lower your center of gravity. Me personaly, I feel like I'm sitting on a brick and I slide around on it. I wouldn't even use mine around town. I am quite happy with my Ultimate. That's just my .02, I know MANY use these and wouldn't want anything else. I know others that share my views. TRY it, get what works for you.

Corbin seats are firm, but most find them great for a long days ride. Fluffy seats are fine for some people. My bike had a new Ultimate on it when I bought it. I rode the bike home and took it off. The new owner in Indiana loves it. With any seat if possible sit on it and move around see how it feels. In my opinion the best seat for your bike is the one you like to sit on!!

I originally had Corbins on my trike when I bought her. From day one I couldn't get use to that seat! Very hard and not comfortable for me at all. I now have a full set of Ultimates which I find very comfortable and supportive. But as others have said, each to their own preferences.

I did an Iron Butt on a Corbin and was good to go after 1100 miles in 19 hours. But I agree with the comments that you either have a Corbin butt or you don't. If you don't you will not like the seat. If you do, it fits perfectly and is very comfortable. Better try one before you sink $$$ into it.

I put a Corbin seat on my Valk the day I bought it. I always thought it was too hard so a year or so ago I bought an Ultimate from a member here. I rode it about 40 miles, came home and switched back to the Corbin, and sold the Ultimate. I was quite disappointed to find that I didn't like the Ultimate since I had read so many good opinions. I thought it was gonna feel like the living room sofa to my butt. It was softer than my Corbin, but I felt stuck in and couldn't move around like I can on the Corbin. So, it was a good experience for me and I expect that I'll always stay with the Corbin. This also points to what others have said about trying a seat before buying if you possibly can. I lost a few bucks on my deal but I'm happy with the way it turned out.

I must have a Corbin butt because I love mine. I can spend 10 - 12 hours in the saddle without a problem. I do have the Alaskan fur on it. I have no comparison to others, but don't have the urge to see if there is a difference.

Another seat to hear from. I have used Diamond Custom Seats on 3 different bikes. I have found them to be the best ride for me. I would give Mike a call and discuss your need. Less expensive than Ultimate and Corbin. Built to your height, weight and inseam. http://www.diamondseats.com/

Corbin riders, I have read that Corbin seats break in to your shape. I had a used one that never did fit right, seemed hard, I peeled the cover added one inch of memory foam and loved the seat. I am thinking of getting a Corbin for my new bike, so my question is did you find that getting the seat new and breaking it in is what made it comfortable for you?
