I know, I know, a motorcycle related post!
We had a great ride last night.  Rode from Alvin down to Surfside and stopped at the Buc-cee's.
Here is Ole Blue with my co-worker's blue Sportster.

Here is his wife and her Sportster.  Yes, she rides her own bike, more than her husband I believe.

Met a new Valk rider James B. from Pearland, just West of me about 6 miles.
He rides a nice black standard that had just over 2000 miles on it when he bought it in Sept. 2012.

It was a great ride and really neat with the full moon shining through the mostly clear sky.

Valkyrie with 2K in 2012, that is hard to believe.    But it is possible.

2003 I almost bought a I/S with 672 miles on it.     Guy bought it, rode it home, dropped it in his garage and it set for quite awhile before he got on it again.

It was a good looking I/S, but I didn't think it was worth $13,000 out the door.  I'd also have to pay Sales Tax and license before I could ride it.    Sales Tax would have been $780, license and title another $40.

It has something like 2600 on it.  He said the PO had the carbs cleaned/rebuilt 6 times over the years.  It's a 2001.

You'd think after the 1st rebuild he would of had enough sense to put stuff in the gas before he parked it.

Damn, that would of been a nice to have customer.    Rebuild on the average every 2,000 miles.........   Yeah baby that would have paid a couple of wages for our employees.

I think he got them cleaned, rode it about 100 miles or so, then parked it.  When he wanted to ride again, 6 months later, they were gummed up again.  NO, probably didn't put anything in the fuel to keep her clean...  he is an engineer...   one would think that he could figure out that he should google it and figure something out, other than taking it to the stealer every time....

Just in case you didn't see the post about our ride to LA. ........

Went on a ride with Charlie (Land Elephant) from Angleton, down to Surfside, over to Galveston, on to the ferry, all the way to Winnie, and over to Port Aurthur to meet Bob, Charlie's friend.  Then we rode down 82 which goes down the coast and over into Louisiana.  We ended up at the Isle of Capri for a buffet lunch.  We hopped on I10 and blasted back to Houston to catch part of the Super Bowl.

Here is my rear view picture headed West on highway 6.

When I got to Charlie's place, he showed me his new Ural.  Here are a few pictures of this 2-wheel drive motorcycle. It's really built heavy duty and is way cool.  There is even a boat oar on the side of the hack!

Our bikes on the ferry on the way to Boliver.

Bridge on Hwy 82.

LA.

Some of the South Texas people will have to tell me what these are.  I thought they were nuclear reactor towers, but they don't really look like the ones down in Bay City.

At the Isle of Capti.

I10 on the way home, West of Baytown.

Weather was perfect and it was good to get a ride in this time of year.  Good to meet Bob too.

Thanks Charlie.

Did some detective work on this. If this is by Lake Charles, it's a liquid Natural Gas plant.
Trunkline natural gas company.
It's apparently a compressor station http://www.panhandleenergy.com/tgc/LakeCharlesProject/main.asp

Google map it and you can see the pipelines and the ports for the ships.

Yep, near Lake Charles.  LNG huh?  Cool.  I knew it was special, because I have seen lots of tanks, but none like these.

Thanks Mike,

Sorry RJ I missed your earlier post about the weather....But, right now, its sucks. 27* and rain turned to sleet and freezing rain, and the roads are slick. Schools are close but then, what else is new. Expect 6 inches of snow today and we had rain and melt down again yesterday.  crazy2 This weather is different, again.

Settin in my office right now hoping that the morning comute for people goes well. We usually have several accidents on a day like today and run about 2 extrications from "T" bone accidents. So here is hoping for the salt to take hold and clean the roads up so people don't crash! Have a good one!
