Good to see you here, Dale.

R J, you need to know a bit more about what's going on in someone's life before you make public attempted humorous comment on it.  Roadkill is not currently subject to honey-dos.

Roadkill, I like that.  The List.   I'll pull that on my wife and see how long I end up in the doghouse.   Actually, it is my primary home.  She refers to it as my Man Cave.

I have an ex, and I don't even think of her as ever being a member of the family anymore.    We were married right out of high school, and divorced 17 months later.    Don't even remember the reason why now.    Went to Korea for my 2nd Tour, came home on leave before going to board the ship for the travel to Tokoyo, and met my current wife.      All I'll say is God picked a gooder one for me this time.

I don't have a Honeydo list any more.  I'ts a singledo.  No pressure and sometimes my abode looks like it.

The cookin', cleanin' and fixin'  all depends on me and sometimes I'm lazy (sometimes?).

BTW, this is the last word, for now.

Wayne, I don't know why but you caused me to blow coffee out of my nose, and on my keyboard.     Glad I got that plastic cover on it.    Makes it very easy to wipe off, but sometimes ya get 2 letters instead of one when trying.

Same deal Wayne.  The list is long, and I keep it out of sight.  If I need to feel depressed, I take it out and look it over from time to time.  LOL

BTW, the plan that works for me is to keep the lights low or off, that way the general disrepair is far less noticeable.

PS, I am going to have to get a plumber in here some day.  My work-arounds are getting ridiculous.

Actually, Jess, the fixin' part is on the Vstrom.  If something goes wrong in the villa I rent, I just call it in and it gets fixed.  It's too bad that I can't do the same for the cleaning.  Oh well, I use the dust on the furniture for post it notes. cooldude

Have you measured the Strom to see if it will ride thru the front (or back) door?  (no doubt some association rule against it, so don't get caught)

A cheap plastic sheet will keep the carpet clean.  Much nicer to work indoors.

Last time I rode my 750 4 thru my front door, I had failed to account for the Vetter fairing.  As I hit the doorway at 15 mph, it only rubbed a little.  Whoops.

My neighbor to the East put in a pair of French Doors in place of his regular front door.

HE OPENS THE 2 DOORS AND RIDES HIS NICE BRAND NEW 2009 with under 5,000 miles on it, parks it and prepares to clean on it.

He parks it in a corner of the living room on Plastic, to catch any oil drips, during the winter or no riding months.   His wife has been bugging him to buy her a little bike.    She tried riding his bike once.   She got started off, came to the stop sign, stopped and forgot to put her feet down.     Boom....   She got up walked back home and sent him down to retrieve the bike.   She still wants her own bike to this day.

Jess, I'm lucky.  I don't have a need to bring the bike inside. It's parked at the end of the 27 foot long garage next to the water heater, never gets below 55 degrees. Note the 'slight' clutter, a spillover because of no honeydoo list.

RJ, it took me awhile to remember to put MY feet down after selling the rig.  Hell, if I go out for lunch these days, coming back I hafta retrain. Grin

I cannot authoritatively speak on what remains in your lifetime or mine, however, even stating it as you did is a huge difference from saying never.

In truth I believe it's dying now.  It's demise is not necessarily immanent but it is coming.  Things in this world have a beginning and an end thus we use the term lifetime.

Reasons?  These would be my opinions only, but a big one is participants who openly belittle, demean and insult others.  When a few slip away because they find the experience less than rewarding those self centered individuals simply say, "We didn't really need them.  They could have just passed by that post or showed some humor about it."

The truth is that when the first few slip away it's not so noticeable, but as more and more go, the critical mass becomes more recognizable.  We really do need a large number of people to make the community functional.

Cost.  The boards cost money.  A few are willing to contribute, but most don't.  Some time back when the issue arose that the primary income of the boards was lost because of pictures posted violating their rules and ours the response was primarily anger over "How can they tell us we can't post nude pictures."  No willingness to change behavior as if those posters were too inept on their own to find their titty and ass photos in the places they are easily accessible.

Effort.  In time the fewer and fewer people who do the work of keeping the board and community going will just tire of what it takes and what is not returned.

It's already dying, R J.  The question is not whether, but how long?  I'd like it to last a few more years for you and me.  Maybe it will.

Not meaning to cast a negative pall on your day.  I do have a strong tie to reality.  Sometimes it comes of that way.   Wink

Vell Carl, if it do die before we terminate, it was fun to participate to the NON name calling and just general chit chat.

I look at it as a place to come everyday and hang for a little while.

When my PC was in hibernation last week due to something I did wrong, I sure missed the box.

If ya need some donations to keep the store open, let us know.   I think I have donated $$$$ at least once.    Memory is too short to remember everything I do, good or Bad.

Peace Gunny.

Well, while I agree that all things die, I hope this board keeps going for a while. I'm betting it will, because there are a core group of real good folks that do care about others, and are willing to help at the mere mention of help being needed. Smiley

While I have developed a fair amount of cynicism in my life, I still chose to believe that there are enough decent folks out there to sustain life, and this board as well.  Cool

Carl, your scenario of administrators "burning out" for lack of fresh bodies and minds is more likely going to be the cause of VRCC ceasing to exist than disgruntled members. Hey, JMHO, YMV!

Yes, I am also glad to see that this thread is still going! cooldude cooldude cooldude
