I hope you all aren't disappointed next month.  Although, I am sure you will find Snook and the bacon stuff.

I saw bluebonnets yesterday, and some indian paintbrush today.  Hope is lasts.

Same here. Looks to be a good spring for bluebonnets. The barn swallows are back at our house about 2 weeks earlier than previous years!

With the cancellation of the MITM, I can use my kitchen pass for the Bluebonnets n' Bacon Ride.

I will be riding with the Houston group as we are planning on travelling to Galveston for business on Friday, then the spousal unit has a convention all day Saturday.  So will ride down Friday and then join the Houston group on Saturday, returning back to Galveston that night.

Had to run up to the Longview/Gladewater area this AM,  saw some pretty patches of BB's along 259. I think the rain really helped this year.

Went up to Yankee's Bar in Carlos, and saw some myself.  Hoping they last until mid April Dennis,,

Just a personal opinion.

Gonna be a lot of disappointment come mid-April concerning bluebonnets.

Just got back from a week in the Big Bend area.  There were bluebonnets even on the road into Presidio.  Wildflowers in the hill country.  Lots of them between Austin and Houston.

I guess, as long as the bacon shows up will not be a wasted (waisted) trip.  A little pun there.

My wife and I have always combined our yearly antique fair trip with a bluebonnet trip the first weekend in April. There are usually plenty of BB's then, maybe they will still be around for the end of the month Bacon trip. If it's not too dry, they may last until then.

To the top!! Trying to get some people together from this area (San Marcos) to make the ride to Snook. It would be great to meet some of our Houston friends.  Smiley

Would love to make this trip, perhaps I could meet up with someone and meet everyone else at final destination.  Riding up from NW San Antonio.  Trying to get the house ready for the market too, time will tell.

I was thinking the same thing. The wife and I took a ride yesterday in search of Bluebonnets, Paint brushes, Winecups, etc... and was quite dissappointed.  Looks like we missed them by a couple of weeks.
However as I was reading through these posts it seems the flowers are not the main attraction on this ride.

There's fields full of bluebonnets between Houston and Dallas still.  cooldude    I'm going to go up toward Brenham and Snook this weekend to give them fair warning of our impending gathering.  Does a swarm of locusts seem a good comparison ?  I'll check on the flower situation as well.  Got my Lipitor prescription already filled   crazy2   Ready to go  coolsmiley

River and I had threatened to put in an appearance at Sodolak's this year after our premature departure from GOTF, but it isn't going to happen...  8-9 hours in the saddle with a southern cooking orgy in the mix before I have to try and squeeze into a tux and sing with the San Antonio Symphony that evening doesn't really seem like a good idea at the moment uglystupid2.

If we can't make it over to Snook before summer hits, that might make a good fall ride as long as we avoid A&M home game weekends.

No sense askin' y'all to eat an extra helping for us: y'all are gonna have your hands full dealing with your *own* portions Grin.  Enjoy!

Saturday's forecast calls for temps from 70 in the AM, to about 84 in the PM.  20% chance of rain, and possibly a bit windy.  That's why they call it "sharing the wind"  I suppose  Roll Eyes

And now for our preliminary event,,,, CFB    laugh  coolsmiley

Sorry, but mama needs me to be at the convention in Galveston on Saturday so I'm leaving the Valk at home as the B&B ride was the only reason to bring it down.  I'll be riding the great white mini-van instead.

But - we will be at the meeting Wednesday.

Again, sorry I have to cancel out at this late date but business sometimes trumps fun.
