Hi all, I just finished installing a Show Chrome Honda VT750 solo rack to compliment my solo seat rail. I had to drill two fender holes just under the seat and just behind the factory holes in the fender. The solo seat rail and solo rack are interlocked as they are installed together. I slipped a couple of rubber washers underneath the front solo rack mounting posts and dabbed some paint into the two drilled holes. I had to drop the rear wheel down to get my hand underneath to tighten the screws for these mounting holes. The rear mount for the solo rack uses the existing fender bolt and just fits. The original fender bolt is long enough even with the added thickness of the solo rack. However a larger chrome washer is needed. The rear solo rack mount has a rubber pad underneath it.

When I went to install the seat I hit a snag. The seat pan ran into the solo rack and wouldn't fit. To remedy this I pulled about 8 staples at the rear of the seat that hold the vinyl to the seat pan. I had a hot knife handy so I cut out a 1" x 4" piece of the seat pan at the interference point. I then re-stapled the seat cover back where it came from. The seat now presses into the solo seat rail / solo rack combination as the vinyl seat compresses where it needs to. By looking you can't see that anything was ever done.

I'm trying to remember where I picked up the solo seat rail but not yet. I don't see any on ebay right now.

Sorry about the cell phone pictures but you should be able to get the idea:

The problem with Socialists is they eventually run out of other people's money to spend!

I adapted a Honda Shadow VT750 Aero VT750
Cost now $ 59.46 US on E Bay from Atlanta Item 130589482562
Slightly different shape
Only minor modification at the front is required to fit the existing screw holes in the fender.
The rack mounting plate is shortened & two 1/2 holes drilled to suite the spacing of the ones in the fender.
I have a fender mounted backrest and the bracket covers it all up & holds it on.
If you dont have a backrest then a plate could be made to hold it in place..
The modification is all hidden under the lambswool seat cover I have on the solo seat.
I dont know how to post photos but if you contact me at :-  littleford@hotkey.net.au  I will send them.
The photos also show how I relocated the aerial.

The thing that made my adaptation harder was the solo seat rail. I could have modified the front solo rack mounting adapter that came with the solo rack but there was substantial interference with the solo seat rail. It was the combination of two items that made it challenging.
