Plasma give off ALOT of HEAT, have one in the bed room. It will raise the room temp when the door is closed. 32 inch. I wouldn't buy one again, since you are so close to it in the bedroom.

Oh man, if you have any questions about oil, now's the time.
Seriously, I'm a big fan of Samsung. Plasmas look slightly better than LCD but are heavy and generate a lot of heat. They're also usually pricier than LCD. MHO.

we have a 42" panasonic plasma, and a 54" samsung LCD. the plasma has a better picture, the LCD is "brighter" but has an "aura" around moving objects, plus if you like black-n-white movies, the LCD will look different, can't explain, but it is different. me, personally i like the plasma, but if i had to deal with the heat of NM, then maybe you'd want the LCD, don't know anything about the LED, not a fan of wearing glasses so the 3d's are never going to be an option for me....
good luck, i hope i could have been of help.

We have an LG LED/LCD 47 in the livingroom and are very happy with it. Great picture and following the ball/ puck in sports is no problem. I think what brand you buy depends on what price range and size you want. Pay attention to the refresh rate and contrast ratio for the price range and size you want. The best brands have different specs for different price ranges. The best dollar deals are not always the best quality. If you pay attention to the specs, your chances for a great picture at a great price go up. Hope this helps some

i have a 50 inch plasma, the picture took me a couple months to get it "perfect" but once there i couldnt be more pleased. the reason i bought the plasma was because of the refresh rate "600 hz" well guess what? cable HD is only 60hz so the only time i would see a difference is on a blu ray player or a super high speed film...when i shut mine off you will see a red glow in the screen from the power supply... when turned on it perfect,,,now it also uses 750 watts of power and the LED will only use maybe a hundred,,, if i was to do it all over i would probably get the LCD because at 240hz they are real good too,,,after all its just a TV right?

i've had a 61" lcd for 5 years now, replaced the bulb once. suddenly it got lots brighter I told the wife that TV is getting darker and darker. the LCD is only 'washed out' if light comes at it from on front of the tv, we can stand to have the windows open but if we open the door which is behind and to the right of where I sit it you can't see much. doesn't generate much heat, nice screen size, newer ones are cheaper.

If you have any faith in Consumer Reports, the March 2012 issue has an article on LCD and Plasma TVs. Swing by Barnes and Noble and take a look at it. Some folks like CR and some don't - YOUR call on how it would relate to your personal situation. Article has a sidebar discussion on screen size, LCD or Plasma, buy now or wait as well as another sidebar giving 7 steps to getting the best picture quality on any TV plus their recommendations in various size categories.
Good luck.
I like Samsung.....

Being an audio and video junkie my suggestion goes for a samsung LED TV you can go online to a forum called audio video science and read about different brands AVS for short the "D" series is last years model and depending on your space I'd either choose the UN46D8000 or the UN55D8000 both are remarkable TV's and have a 240Hz refresh rate.
What ever you choose get with me and I can hook you up with best prices around and more than likely no shipping or sales tax.

We have a 42" Hitachi LCD and a 32" Samsung LCD
Both are good Tv's but I'd recommend the Samsung to anyone that is looking for a new TV.

My research and experience shows that Costco has better prices than anyone. Their selection is very limited, but they always have a couple of very good quality choices in TVs of about any type and size. Plus, they give you a truly no hassle, no cost 2-yr warranty, when everyone else is 1-year.
My Hitachi 1080p HiDef LCD was $300 less than anybody else.
Find out what your Costco has, and make your best choice from that short list. JMHO

A couple of things to consider; the human eye (on average) can't discern much beyond 120hz so higher refresh rates are pretty much a selling feature you won't even notice.
I can't say that ALL ultra-thin LED's are like this but the three I gave a hard look at while buying our bedroom TV all had terrible internal speakers. It sounded like you were listening to a TV in a coffee can. I assume it's a side-effect of them having to be really small. I'm sure you can get them with good internal speakers but just make sure you test that before buying. I wasn't satisfied with any of them so I bought a regular LCD instead.

I have a 47 inch LG 5500 lcd/led, 120 hz, 1080 internet ready. I like it. However, as noted by Anvil on this thread,, the sound isn't much. due to the extreme thinness of the set (I inch), decent speakers cannot be packed in.
My 30 year old stereo set has a great sound but due to only optical output from the TV, I couldn't easily use it to supplement my crappy tv speakers. I bought a sound bar.
Consumer Reports show that LG, Samsung, and one or two others, have excellent quality and reliability. I'm no expert so I can't compare plasma vs lcd/led.

Recommend the following;
-Check the sizing chart based upon viewing distance, err toward the larger side. -Go with LED technology -120 HZ or greater, you probably can't even buy an LED a 60 HZ anyhow, but you will get distortion with horizontal motion with 60 HZ set. -Visit the big-box stores and look at units for yourself, then go online and shop that model. When I bought my last Samsung 52" LCD in Feb 2009, I got it from Amazon, delivered and set up for about $1K cheaper than local retail. -Stay with one of the 3 "S's", Sony, Samsung or Sharp. -Don't buy the extended warranty, it is a poor value considering the life sapn of these units and the MTBF. If you must have it to sleep at nite, shop directly with the warranty providers, you can save about half the cost. Just ask the retailer which warranty company they use.
