I tried on the HJC last night in the store, and it fit great.
However, HJC does not have one with the neck apron on it and the shield.

I think I want one that has it all, vents, neck apron and the shield.
However, the wallet at my house has no dust on it, so the under 100 bucks is more than likely going to win out and it is going to be either the HJC or the scorpion.

I need to go try on a scorpion and see how it fits.

This is a great discussion, but not enough about fit.  Jess mentioned the front-to-back length rather than the side-to-side. I guess I also have an oblong head.  I wear Arais 3/4 now, but they are very uncomfortable on long rides due to a bad fit.  They feel good on the sides but are too tight on the Front-to-back. After a while, the pressure on my forehead gets too uncomfortable.  I need a longer and narrower fit.  Anyone else have this problem?

Funny... I have both a large and an extra-large Arai, but can't realize much of a difference between the two... go figure!

I once read an article that discussed the phenomenon of the two essential shapes of the human head (round/symmetrical and oblong), and which identified the major helmet mfrs which made helmets for each.  I did a little looking and I found it discussed in other forums, but cannot find the article.

I had a bell magnum I wore for years, and it was a great quality helmet, but after 2 hours I got bad headaches, because it was too tight front to rear for my oblong head.  I had no money so I wore it for years.

I can buy about anything on-line and get a decent fit (except some Chinese larges are really smalls).... except two things Helmets and Boots.  I drove around until I found the new Scorpion exo100 and tried them on.  Thou the U-tube suggested they ran large, I had to go up from a large to an XL for a good fit (7 3/8 hat).  What ever helmet you get, I think you have to drive around and try them for a good fit.

On the Scorpion being hot, I will say it is the best full-coverage half I've ever seen, meaning is sits lower on your head all the way around than other halfs, and it has full DOT thickness for protection.  It is a big half, and it likely does get warmer than other much smaller halfs, esp those not set up to take a full warm neck curtain for cold weather.  But the fit/comfort for me was best ever.  And my head sweats in all halfs in hot weather so it is not an issue for me.  What I like is the whole liner can be snapped out and hand washed or in the machine on delicate, with a shot of fabrese, so it doesn't smell like Eau de Horsesweat permenently.  Plus I ride with mine year round in the coldest weather, with the neck curtain and underarmor coldgear hood.

Cheap bastard that I am, I cut my own hair.  Come summer I lose my Air Force 1/4 inch hair, and go to a Marine boot buzz cut so am cooler. (temp wise, not looks wise, there's no help for me there and I don't care a bit)   My chin hair is somewhat longer so I can remember what I had for lunch.   2funny

Oh, and last week my buddy was diddling around with his bike and managed to spill his large coffee fully into his inverted helmet.  I found this extremely amusing (as he was pouring it out saying bad words)..... but he did not.

It seems like I have seen that same article, but can't remember where for the life of me... maybe MCN but I haven't checked yet.

I can't wear my Arai's for longer than 1 or 2 hrs without feeling like my head is in a front to back vise... especially my forehead.

I just got back from a Honda dealer and tried a Scorpion on while there.  I tried up to a 2XL and it still felt tight back to front and looser side to side.  I was thinking that maybe I could adjust the lining a bit, but it felt like my forehead was hitting more than just lining.

Maybe it did affect me that time that horse stepped on my head...

The stylized S or Z whatever it is can easily be removed from the Scorpion helmet, it's glued on with a rubber type glue. cooldude

You know that Arai makes a round and oval profile, right?

Same problem for me.  A lot of helmets will not touch my head except for a small area at the back of my head and a dime sized spot on my forehead.  The EXO100 xl fits me good and I like the drop down shield.  It is a comfortale helmet when the weather is cool to warm.  When the weather gets hot, I reach for my full HJC IS - 16 which also has a drop down tinted shield behind the clear main shield and it also has good ventilation.  I hate pulling on and taking off a full helmet but don't hate it as much as I hate a sweaty helmet.  This HJC seems to fit well with my oblong head too.
