Sucks to be him, I guess.
I see way more of this stuff than I ever wanted to. Every Friday (except when we are on bike trips), May thru September, I work an off-duty security detail at the (in)famous Yankee Lake Truck Night.
I really shouldn't complain as the extra $$$ pays (and pays well) for our many motorcycle adventures throughout the Summer & Fall.
Anyway, picture about 4000 rednecks, beer, trucks; and little common sense and you get this:
The truck tug-o-wars are wildly popular (they have mud pits, trails, "swamp romp", as well).
I have seen many mechanical misadventures from this stuff. It is really interesting to watch someone pull in with their $40,000, brand new, Chevy/Ford/Dodge, and then commence to bust the front end or blow the tranny out of it - 4:45 into this video is an example.
The old stuff seems to hold up much better.
