Well, I’m getting ready to head into town for my 3 times a week wound care session. The leg seems to be healing correctly this time and I’m not seeing any signs of infection this time around thankfully. I guess the proof will come when the doc decides to remove the stitches. That may come this Wednesday when he looks at it, guess I’ll find out then.

When I noticed the screws backing out and had to go to the doc about it was the first time I’d seen a doc since 2008 unless you include having a piece of broken off wood dug out from under a fingernail at a local 24 hour med-care business a year or two ago.

One of the wound care therapists said her Dad was T boned by a cage on his bike a while back. He got six broken ribs, some other injuries and a broken lower leg out of it. The only thing that’s still giving him trouble is the lower leg and it sounds like it’s giving him a bunch of trouble. I think he maybe in danger of loosing it, she looked pretty grim. She said no matter what, he’s done ridin’.

She also told me that the lower leg tends to have poorer circulation and poorer healing, wish I had known that before I let them put the plate in my leg to begin with. I went to a different doc to get it removed since I had so much trouble after the first doc installed it.

Even though I’m stuck driving a cage for now I’m wearing a Valkyrie shirt this morning and I’ll keep the window down to catch some wind.

Sure hope after this is behind me I can manage another four years before I have any more interface with the medical community. I won’t deny, this has been a little scary since they pulled the staples after the Feb 17’th surgery and the wound was completely unhealed. Going in for the 2’nd surgery I was cursed nervous, first time I’ve felt like running from something in my adult life. Sure hoping I never have to feel that way again. After the 2’nd surgery a week ago Friday was the first time in my life my blood pressure was over 125, it was 180 and they had to give me some kind of med for it.

When I was ridin’ home in 2008 knowing my leg was broke I never dreamed it would still be a pain in the ass 4 years later. If I had known I might have ridin’ around a little more before I pulled in the driveway. An extra 15 minutes of ridin’ would be a big deal for me right now.

I guess I can see it both ways. No way I would quit riding over this but... This wasn't that bad an accident, my main problems have been caused by the medical care I received for the break I think. And, of course, just by virtue of being a 50 odd year-old fat guy who broke his leg.

Even though it wasn't too bad an accident it's been a hardship for my family. My wife, kids, grand-kids and daughter-in-laws have all helped us out in one way or another. Thankfully the wife and I have pretty good health insurance, and in-spite of that we will have spent around 5 grand out of pocket if it goes well from here on out. Twenty years ago, that could have cost us our home. I suppose if everything possible goes wrong, it still could.

For someone with kids to support whose worried about incurring further medical bills, a spouse who doesn't support continuing to ride or someone with anxiety issues stopping for good or for a while might be the best choice.

I do plan on trying to ride a little less aggressively in the future but I'll probably throw that out the window as soon as I throw a leg over the scooter.   Undecided

Not as far as I know. They said it was a little high when checked before 2'nd surgery. Am gonna have to stop eating like a working guy while I'm just sitting on my rear I think.

Hope you're feeling better man.

Sharing some wind sounds good.  cooldude
