Anyone know how good or bad respectively AT&T's cell phone service is in and around Deal's Gap area of western NC? 

I'm going there soon (been there before) but can't remember if there was reliable cell service in the area or if it's just my wishful thinking.

It is intermittent at best, not a whole lot of cell towers in the area. In Robbinsville, always had a signal, but on 129 and a couple other roads it is hard to get a signal. Seems like the higher you get the better the reception is.

No cell service whatsoever no matter who the provider is....They work in Robbinsville, NC and they work about 10 miles out of Maryville on US 129. Anywhere around  Deals Gap and The Dragon is a dead zone. One of the big problems when someone crashes I just had to deal with that a few months ago when my friend Greg crashed less than a 1/2 mile from the overlook.
