All this talk about size. I've got news for you. Not every man is a macho street fighter. I am 52 years old and about the same size as Zimmerman. I have never in my life thrown a punch at any human being. I got Jumped in a bar bathroom and got my head beat in once, but I never even saw the guys that did it, I was busy "doing something" and had my hand full.  got punched in the back of the head.
But short of wrestling my siblings, 4 sisters, I have never been in a fight.

But I do carry.

So any street savvy 6'2" 17 year old is a huge threat to me. He WANTS to fight, and I don't and can't.

My best chance of survival is to shoot him. Because there isn't a remote possibility that I am going to defend myself from anyone hand to hand.

So all you macho guys go ahead and fend off your attackers like a "man" I have another plan. 

If you feel that you can't protect yourself with your hands and feel and know your life is in danger, you would have to use deadly force. Just be sure it is justifiable or you could be charged with murder! I hope it never happens but if it did you better hope he ain't black!! 

There is no law that I am aware of that says "fight for your life with your fists, and if that doesn't work, go ahead and shoot"

and we have Zmans statement of how they got there, I don't know how much water that holds.

I'm reminded of a justified shooting back in my old home town of Mahomet IL, 25 years ago? the details are fuzzy but I remember the shooter going to the jail overnight. mostly for his statement I guess.

I didn't anything about a law. I was merely agreeing with what you said and to be careful. BTW, If I was in the same situation as Zimmerman (if it's true) I would be forced to do the same.

The school said they confiscated a "burglary tool", and women's jewelry from Trayvon. But hey, it was just a screw driver and some stuff he found, like wedding bands and such. No story there.  We seem to be ignoring the fact that there is a segment of our society that LOVES there guns, and are looking for any excuse to use them. No proof that was the case here, but it's a factor.

Yes it sure seems that way. But the facts pass the initial sniff test. I actually remember the one where the guy was chased down and stabbed. Maybe that has something to do with the bias?

I was thinking that on the drive in to work this morning.  Hmmmmm, Al sure is quiet since we've learned more about Mr. Martin and heard from witnesses.   

But strangley, here in New York, the next wanna-be mayor, Ms. Quinn, is making speeches at hoodie wearing gatherings about how the police didn't arrest Zimmerman, which tells everyone that he did nothing wrong.  This Quinn person is a real piece of work and I know the nutty NY Democratic machine is gonna make her out to be what Obama was supposed to be.

I am not a gun control advocate, I carry. However to me the stand your ground law protects more than the person who is truly in need of it. The link above is a case that took place in Ocala Florida. The law protected a trouble youth (alternative school more than once and on probation). I know both of the parties involved and this was a student/young person fight. Illegal weapons possession by a minor. The shooter hid the gun and fled the scene after the shooting. The two young men were aquaintences who got in a fight and someone got shot, doesn't seem right to me.

I really wish we were getting facts instead of emotionally charged leaks, but that video, depending on how you take it, could also show a man who's just had a bad gash to the back of his head consistent with his story who'd had the wound washed.

It's not surprising that CBS (I think that's who aired it to start with... not sure but one of the lamestream networks) edited the part of the video that appears to show the gash on the back of the head, as well as a moment that the LEO appears to examine Zimmerman's noggin.

Regardless of the eventual outcome, the shameless and dishonest way the media has portrayed the incident and the disgusting rush to politically profit by the race whores and politician is simply nauseating.
