One  summer while I was in college I got a job here in the Bronx with a locksmith  Maybe I was 17 or 18.

First morning he is drunk drinking a Schaefer Beer with his friend, a Czech dude

He says to me one of my responsibilities is to make sure there is Schaefer in the fridge and tells me to get him and his buddy a beer each from the fridge

I open the fridge its empty

I tell him no beer in the fridge

your fired you..............@%#$#^&@#)@#) he says

I reply how to you work the register?

The Czech shows me and I take out a 20 walk across the street, buy a six pack , shake it up real good and walk back to the shop.

Hand the boss a Schaeffer and he opens it and gets soaked

His friend is laughing then he gets soaked too

Did not get fired, lots of good stories from that job and I drove to all the jobs in his Chrysler Newport
That car was fast and had terrific brakes that locked easily

SCHAEFER IS THE ONE BEER TO HAVE WHEN YOU"RE HAVING MORE THAN ONE

can still hear the music  click on the top video in the link

My dad use to drink Schaefer and Black Label Beer.  When I was 13 my Dad worked part time painting for the local contractor in our town of Avon CT.  It was summer, sweltering hot and my Dad handed me a  cold Schaefer and said, "Don't tell you mother".  Never did and remember it still today.  Most carbination I ever saw in a beer.

Today is my Dad's birthday.  He would have been 95 years old today.

Thanks for the memory.

OBTW, my Dad drank Balentine Scotch.  Nastiest crap I ever tasted. Alcohol with red iodine.

Schaefer was The Bronx beer of choice, After Trommer's White Lable went out of business.
Talk about Rock Gut booze, my grand dad drank "Old Overholt" bottled in bond straight rye whiskey. A shot of that would make something out of you real quick!

When I was 16 my grandfather took me to the DMV to get my permit. My dad worked nights so he slept durimg the day. I went in and took the test and got my permit. He let me drive home about 20 miles. We pulled into a store and he came out with a 6 of schaefer. We drove around and drank it, god knows I was proud to be driving the old man around and drinking beer with him. I recently told my father about it, I'm 53 now and he is 76. He got a kick out of it but would have been made as hell at the time. Oh yea the DMV appointment was at 9am, so we were riding around drinking beers at 10 am. Schaefer was terrible as far as I am concerned but whenever I here the name I smile, great memory.

True beer story.

Strohs Brewery in Detroit used to sponsor all kinds of tours.   So a large group from my small hometown arranged one.  A charter bus pics you up; big kegs of beer on bus, all you can drink.  The bus takes you  downtown to the brewery for a tour; all the beer you can drink.  Then back on the bus to (old) Tiger stadium; all the beer you can drink.  Seats are way out, all together.  If you want beer, you pay at the stadium, all you can drink.  Now one particular girl in the group is so well endowed, our HS called her particular type of V-neck sweaters, Linda Knitter sweaters.

Mid game, there is a big double play and many stand up, jump up and down, and cheer, including Linda.  This draws lots of associated cheering from the surrounding males.  Another big play, and the same thing happens, only many more people are cheering... and even some of the outfielders are turning around and looking up in the stands.  After a third big play, Linda's cheering draws appreciative cheering from about a quarter of the stadium.  To everyone's surprise and unhappiness, guards come and take her away..... for interrupting the game.

The booing went on for some time.

There were dozens of seats in old Tiger stadium behind giant square columns (you could see nothing).

My first beer when I was sneaking into bars in New Jersey when I was 17.

I still know all the words to the jingle....It's the one beer to have when you're having more than one....

I was in a bar probably a decade or so later and figured I'd walk down memory lane and have a Schaefer for old time sake....

IT SUCKED!!!

We used to go to Pizza Inn or to Tony's Drive Inn and get Schlitz.  Loved the dark with pizza. They have the 1960's recipe out now,  still as good as I remember. Especially in the bottle.

True story from my father; when he was a little boy in Italy during WWII, some german soldiers wanted him to fill their canteens with water from the spring.  so, my father runs down to the spring, and relieves himself in their canteens, tops 'em off with water off the road, next to the spring, then brings it back to the two german solders.  my father had a good bit of revenge.

my beer memories;  when we owned a gas station the drinking age was 18, and yes, i did sell beer to my class mates.  some times it was illegal, so what i would do is keep the empty 24 pack boxes of coke, and insert the traditional Lienenkugels.  one day, one of my buddies walked out the front door, right when the town cop was coming in.  cop never knew a thing.......

my tequila story, (cause i don't remember how i got there);  a bunch of ski buddies and i were going out west to go skiing, we left Madison at about 10:30 at night, i remember passing an old lady and telling my buddy to slow down 'cause i wanted to moon her, well, that's about that, but i do remember waking up somewhere in Iowa, but naked, peeing on the side of the road at 2:30 am, have NO IDEA how or why......

When Pam and I are in upstate NY, we look for "Red Cap Ale".
I used to drink "Old Vienna" in my 20's. That probably accounts for my conditions today.

My friends parents bought nothing but Schaefer and Schaefer light, my friend and I used steel a few from them. We couldn't get it cold enough to drink it. That was one the worst beers I've ever tried to drink. 14-15 years old
