Two years ago while traveling on Hwy 4, I was coming up on truck pulling what appeared to be a small empty car trailer.   I was traveling about 65 mph and was about 25 yards behind him.  Suddenly he strikes a hump in the pavement and out pops a spare tire that for some ridiculous reason was lying loose on the bed.  Well, the tire strikes the road and begins rolling upright at speed.  Now directly behind the trailer and just a few feet in front of me I’ve got just enough time to swing to my left and avoid it.  But that not the end of the story….. having nearly pssd myself I look to my right and my little rubber friend  Evil is now traveling right along side me.   So what do think………..the truck and trailer slow slightly, the tire strike the back of the trailer, bounces up , in, and lays flat.  When I pull up along side the driver he’s oblivious, has no idea what had just happened.

Back when I first started riding after being off for 25 years due to an acc.and a family growing up I had bought a GW.As you know they have a cb radio ,well I was returning from a ride with some friends in GWRRA in socal.I was talking with my buddy ahead of me on the freeway and was a little nervous about approaching a 18 wheeler truck.I asked my friend to move left to the next lane. When he did the truck hit something in his lane.It turned out to be a piece of sheetmetal about 4'by4' and flipped it up an spun it like a frissbe at windshield height in the lane we just moved out of.It happened so fast I diden't have time to react but I know it would have killed one if not both of us.

4 -5 years ago driving my explorer, now gone, i'm following a landscaping truck on a 4 lane road with median.  it has all the usual crap in the back and i'm thinking how it's not secured and could easily bounce out.  just as i'm thinking that a large 2 wheeled wheelbarrow bounces out of the truck.  the road is still finishing final construction.  i was prepared and quickly veered right in the emergency lane thinking how smart i am for being prepared.

as i pull over, a street sweeper is coming up directly towards me, going the wrong way, right in my face.  i yanked the wheel to the left going up almost on 2 wheels (explorers are not made for race tracks) heading for median thinking i am going to smash into median and big trouble.

turns out that there was a turn lane in the median i was able to squeeze through and ended up in oncoming 2 lane traffic, but since a newly constucted hwy, no trafffic so i just cruised up to stop sign adjacent to the landscaping truck as he looked at me like i was some kind of idiot.

i think my pants almost got dirty!!  Grin Grin
