Is there a blacktop route between Franklin, NC and Hwy 107 north of Cashiers?

I'm in Dahlonega,  Ga and ride up there sometimes.  If you take SR 64 east out of Franklin around 5 miles (maybe a little less) Walnut Creek Road, or Walnut Street is on your left, the river is on your right.  That is paved going cross country, it turns into Pine Creek(Grove, Street, Road), can't remember, but it will take you around Glenville Lake and hit 107 there.  Nothing along the way but scenery, and the lake, some trucks.  Weekend mornings you can run into traffic near the lake with vacationers and fishermen heading out.  Don't run out of gas between the lake and Franklin, if I remember right there is nowhere to stop for any.  A pretty ride.

Got it. Pine Creek Road.

Soon as I saw it on Google Earth I realized I'd been along part of Walnut Creek on a KLR hopping from forest road to forest road.

Thanks.

Just saw another road, Norton Road, that heads north from Hwy 64 east of Cashiers. Intersects Pine Creek Rd on the west side of Glenville Lake.

Wonder if Norton Rd is blacktop?

I don't know that I 've ridden that one, I have to work tonight in Snellville, might just head up that way tomorrow morning after work and check it out...that would give me a chance to head back via Blairsville and eat there..

Not sure about Norton Rd. but another route from Franklin is east on 64. Then just past the community of Cullasjah and before you get to Walnut Creek Rd. you turn left on Cullasajah or maybe Cullasajah mtn. rd. Becomes Presley Creek Rd.. Takes you over two mtns. At the stop sign if you turn left you come to 107 a couple miles south of Western Carolina University. I prefer to turn rt. on Cullowhee mtn. rd.. At the end of Cullowhee mtn. road either way will take you to 107 ( I believe that is Pine Creek Rd.) Right takes you by Walnut Creek Rd. and left takes you by a boat ramp on Glenville Lake. (nice place to take a break) If you go left at the stop sign and then right on 107 it's not far to 281. There is a store and a small restaurant on left before 281. The restaurant has the best burgers in that part of the country.  cooldude Hope this makes sense. Been a few years since I did this route.
