I don't think that going Darkside in the front is a good idea safety wise.

Darkside refers to an automobile tire being employed on the rear of a motorcycle.

The key work being automobile.

You cannot easily put an automobile tire on the front and it would not be recommended, regardless.

Installing a rear designated motorcycle tire on the front of a motorcycle is not uncommon.

The only requirement when installing a rear designated motorcycle tire on the front of a motorcycle is that it fits the rim properly and the front generally.

You have merely misconstrued the word "Darkside"

It would fit the rim and would spin slightly faster than stock. (speedo would read higher)

Looks like an ok choice.

Let us know how it performs if you decide to use it.

BTW: Remember that most here mount them backwards.

"Darkside front" or "double darkside," means using a motorcycle rear tire (generally mounted in reverse rotation) on the front of the motorcycle.  By starting with 11/32" tread instead of the normal 6/32" as typical on "front" tires, you get much more mileage out of it.

As for your question:  The 150/70/17 is about 1 3/8" shorter than the original tire, causing a BIG speedometer error.  I'd suggest a 130/90/17 to maintain the height of the original tire.

I personally have a 150/70 on my Valk and register a 10 mph error as compared to the GPS.  The error was only 3 mph before I went to this size tire.

BTW, My Kenda tire with 13,000 miles looks like it has the same amount of rubber on it as my friend's "normal" front Avon tire he installed last week.

I have a Conti Go Rear 130/90VB-17 waiting in-the-wings.
Have to wait for my Avon Cobra to wear-out later this year.

+1 on the Contigo, after 3k miles great tire, present amount of wear indicates it will go 20-25k miles.
running Quadboss in it
