Hi everyone,

I am going to rebuild my forks and put new bearings in the steering head while i have it apart.

I have ordered all the parts, Fork seals, Progressive Springs, Honda Suspension Fluid 10w, and new head bearings. The wheel bearings were done at last tire change(750miles ago) so they are good.
I should get the parts this weekend.

What i don't have are the 3 tools for the job. The Seal driver, and the two sockets for the left fork and steering head nut.

Does anyone have these and are willing to loan, or rent to me. I would cover shipping both ways and pay a rental fee if applicable.

I just don't want to buy three new tools for over $125 that I'm only going to use once.

Or is there a way to do the job without them.

I can pay cash, MO, Or Paypal.

I'm in Northern New Jersey

Thanks in advance to the wonderful people on this board. Paul

I had done the progressive springs and seals about 6 years ago and didn't use any special tools.
Didn't need to remove the t either. (The fork tubes just slide out)

Unless the head bearing is giving you problems, just grease and torque it and it should be good (mine is 108k miles old and still working fine).

There's a link in the second post of the second link above to a site that shows how do-it-yourself-fabrication of some special tools was accomplished.  It includes the 'fork spring tool' needed here.

I think I may have used a screwdriver and hammer to break it loose (being very careful not to damage anything) and then, a long nose pliers (each half of the nose in opposite notches) to turn it loose.  It was a long time ago (by my feeble memory).

Someone (I don't even remember who now) loaned me the tool, made it easy. I we keep your
post bumped to the top for a day or two perhaps someone with the tool will see it...

You have to overcome a spring on both sides, I used a plumbing elbow on the
non-special-tool side...

If you do need the special tool to adjust the steering stem nut, this one from Mike works well:
