i have my intakes removed to install new o rings its a 2003 standard with 8600 miles on it bought a new compression gauge to see what the readings are with no plugs in the engine the numbers are as follows #1 140 #2 160 #3 160 #4 150 #5 140 #6 170 of course with no intakes installed there was no need to open throttle should the numbers be closer with so few miles on it or might my valves be set too tight ?

Seems like they should be closer than that,, but,, you really should run the test on a warm[not hot] engine.. I think you'll find they'll be better then.. If you're using a hand-held you could be getting some leakage and not realize it.. You really can't get any indication of valve lash from compression readings..
